âPut your f*****g hands in the air,â I said, not even caring if he was lying or not. He was a freaking werewolf and I intended to put him down. The dark-haired guy raised his hands above his head and I kept my gun trained at him.
âOne move, and Iâll blow out your brains,â I said. Micheal gave me a confused stare but I didnât care. Luckily Micheal didnât ask many questions.
âYou heard her, hands slowly where we can see âem,â he said and the dude raised his hands higher. But even before I could blink. He decked Micheal sending him flying and snatched my gun from my hands and pinned me onto a wall. He growled.
âI am not the f*****g enemy,â he said and I struggled furiously but it was futile. He was too strong.
âOh really, thatâs why your kind probably wanted to eat that kid as breakfast,â I said and the guy paused. I could feel his hot breath on my neck and it was making me feelâŠâŠ..hot and wanting andâŠâŠ.dammit. What was wrong with me?
âJust kill me and be done with it scum,â I said and he growled again. The sound was scaryâŠand animalistic.
âIf I just wanted to kill you I would have done it already. Now tell me how a human like you knows about usâ he said and I shrugged.
âWhy donât you hand me back my gun and take your d**k off my assâ I retorted. I heard him chuckle and he pushed off me. Immediately he pushed off me and my muddled brain cleared and the naughty thoughts of him naked vanished. He tossed the gun back to me, surprising me.
âHave it, I just want to talkâ he said. I stared at Michealâs body sprawled out cold on the ground and I glared at him.
âYou did not have to knock him out that hard,â I said and the guy shrugged.
âHe is a guy. He wouldnât have asked questions, he would really have gone for my head so I had to take him outâ he said. I shot him a defiant stare.
âWhat made you think Iâll ask questions?â I countered. He smiled at me.
âYou already are,â
Fair point.
I holstered my gun and shot him a glare.
âSo what do you want before I decide to really go for your headâ I said and he chuckled.
âYour guns wouldnât even give me a scratch,â he said. It was my turn to smile back.
âHe wouldnâtâ I pointed at Micheal who was groaning but mine would,â I said and his green eyes darkened.
âSilver doesnât hurtâŠâŠ
âItâs wolfsbane, mother fuckerâ I said and his eyes widened. His green eyes studied me with respect.
âInteresting,â he said. Micheal got to his feet and glared at the guy. I told him with my eyes to just drop it. I wanted to hear what he had to say then, I was going to kill him. If he thought I wouldnât, then he was a fool.
âMy name is Rhys,â he said and extended a hand which I ignored.
âCan I talk to you alone?â he said and I shook my head.
âSay what you want to say. Sergeant Micheal here is with meâ I said and Rhys sighed.
âI think you know why,â he said. I stared at Micheal who shrugged as if you say âI donât know whatâs going onâ
I nodded to the werewolf in front of me
âFine. Come with meâ I said and I smirked to myself. Perfect! As soon as I was done listening to what he had to say. I was going to kill him, save Micheal the stress of seeing me do it and asking questions. Besides something was up, why are werewolves suddenly showing up in human cities?
I opened a storage closet door and let him in, then I shut the door and stepped in, crossing my arms.
âSo what do you want to tell me?â I asked and he sighed. He paused back his shaggy dark hair.
âItâs Kael. He is thinking of ruling the whole of California, humans combined. You know who Kael is?â He asked and my blood ran cold.
Kael. Kael was my nightmare, Kael had been my alpha in my past life. He and I had been mates, but he had deemed me unworthy. He called me names and maltreated me because he didnât want to marry me. He had me raped then had me killed. I whipped out my gun, tears of anger in my vision.
âThanks for the heads up. I have to kill youâ I said and Rhys's eyes darkened, they flashed yellow and I knew he was refraining from letting his wolf take over.
âYou donât have to do thisâ his voice was deep, and growly as if two creatures were speaking at once.
Thatâs what they are, monsters. I couldn't trust them. Rhys moved for me so fast but suddenly I could see his movements in slow motion. I sidestepped and fired a shot into his stomach.
Rhys let out a blood-curdling howl and glared at me in disbelief.
âThatâs not normal, how are you so fast?â he wheezed and I ignored him. I put my hand on the trigger and pressed it back.
Rhys jerked as the bullet tore through his shoulder and he fell on his knees, blood pouring out of his mouth. His eyes had gone yellow and I knew his wolf was fighting death.
Rhys' eyes didnât look at me in hate, he looked at me in pity and understanding.
âWe're not all bad,â he said and struggled to get on his feet. He moved closer till the gun was pressed against his chest. He brushed the hair from my forehead softly and I sobbed.
âI am so sorry, so sorry. I had to. IâŠ.IâŠ..â
âItâs fine Selenaâ With that he was gone in a blur only the creak of the door opening giving away the fact he was ever here. I didnât know why but it hurt me to even see Rhys in pain and it was just someone I met. I cleaned my eyes and holstered my gun.
I still had someone to huntâŠ..Alpha Kael and probably all the werewolves in the world.
