Maya’s POV
“Wh… where did you go?” I asked, blinking at Maddox, my vision blurred.
He cupped my chin. “Maya, look at me. You’re safe, you’re not dead. Okay?”
I nodded weakly.
He helped me onto my feet, though my head banged so badly I thought it might split open.
“Maddox, I want to go home. I don’t feel too good,” I whispered.
“But Maya, we can’t leave. The whole issues aren’t closed to being resolved yet,” he said.
We were just about to step out the door when I tapped him, my whole body shaking. I pointed with trembling hands. “He… he’s there,” I stammered.
His face shifted instantly. “Who’s there?” he demanded.
“That man.”
