Maya POV
The cops had arrived, everything happened in a flash.
Now Isla and Helena were being handcuffed.
Dunlop’s dead body being covered. So was Jamiu’s.
I couldn’t watch it. I felt so disgusted.
I felt sad. Everything happened too fast. They did deserve the death. But I didn’t—most definitely I didn’t want things to end this way.
Maddox saw how anxious I looked. He came to me, put his arm over my shoulder.
“Maddox, please,” I stopped him, giving him the same stop sign he once gave me.
In my head, have the taste of your own medicine.
He was talking. I ignored him, still deep in my own thoughts.
He tapped me to get my attention. I raised my voice at him.
“Maddox, please, let me be.”
We walked, getting towards the car.
He left me behind.
He shouted, “Yes! My baby is safe!!” H
