Chapter8

Jake had his hand clamped together as he looked at Stella and looked back at Stella, who had a smirk on her face. The man in front of him was well seated as he kept his gaze on the table he had in his hands. He occasionally looks at the wall clock on the wall and back towards the entrance to see if Josh was coming out anytime soon. Josh came out with a worried look on his face. “What is it?” Klaus Ashwood looked at him. “I don't think the result is coming out anytime soon. We need to wait for at least two days.” Josh replied. “I said it; I knew there was something off about him the moment you told me he is the one. Are you sure about this?” Stella said with anger. Klaus gave her a look that meant for her to keep silent. “Okay, Josh. Thank you.” He said removing his spectacles Klaus turned slowly and looked at Jake. “I want to believe I am never wrong. I am going to give you this because I know you are going to be needing it.” Jake looked at him as he dipped his hands into a black pocket and brought out a black card. “This will help you in your fight against Maxwell or whatever the name of that boy is. I expect I will be seeing you back in two days time. Then, I will know if you are worthy of my help or not.” Jake said nothing but simply collected the black card he was given. He glanced back at Stella and back at Klaus. “Thank you.” Jae managed to say as he walked out, looking at the card. He was surprised and wondered why he was given a card when he could have been given money instead. He still needed to settle a few school stuff and also buy a few textbooks. Jake had used a substantial amount of money to buy his ex-girlfriend a bag that she threw in his face. He could have sold it back, but he knew the money wouldn't amount to anything anymore. He dipped the card into his pocket as he flagged down a taxi and headed home. It had been a long day. Jake wondered what the following day would be like for him. He was not going to face Maxwell and Bella alone, but he was going to know his fate at the school. He was going to know if he was going to be suspended indefinitely or not. Jake got home, and there was no simple food for him to eat. He opens his cupboard and sighs. He took his phone again, and he could see the picture of him and Bella again. His heart ached, and he wondered where he had gone wrong. He had loved Bella with the whole of his heart and with everything he had, but telling him to his face that she didn't love him all this while was on a whole new level. Jake in anger deleted all the pictures of them together and blocked her off his call list. He landed on his bed with a heavy sigh and brought out the black card he was given by Mr. Klaus. Jake’s hand darted over his keypad as he googled what a black card was. His eyes opened in awe as he read the meaning and the full extent of the little card he had in his hands. “Can you really do this?” He asked, feeling a little drowsy. The card slowly fell off his hands as he slept off. [THE FOLLOWING DAY] The chirping sound of the bird woke Jake up, and of course, the sound of his phone. “Your adoptive mother is in school, and she is crying, Jake. You need to come right now!” Sarah shouted. “What? What do you mean she is in school?” Jake yawned lazily. He glanced at his phone again and saw he was late for school. “I am coming!” Jake shouted as he jumped out of bed, racing into the bathroom. Jae immediately wore his tattered clothes and put on his shoes. He was about to get out of the house when he saw the card lying on the bed. He immediately grabbed it and tucked it into his shorts. He was down in the school in no time. “Move!” He barked as he walked through the crowd in front of him. Jake was surprised to see Mrs. Penelope kneeling on the floor once more in front of Maxwell and Bella. “I told you already. He is going to be expelled. I don't need your apologies anymore. All I want from him is to fall on his knees and beg me.” Maxwell sat with his leg crossed while Bella sat opposite him in the cafeteria. “I am here now, so you should watch the way you talk back at me or my mother!” Jake shouted in anger. “Stay out of this, Jake.” Mrs. Penelope said in tears. “Get up, Mother, and let me handle this. Please believe in me.” Jake said in anger once more. He got beside his mother and drew her up. “Wow! That courage, what are you going to do?” Maxwell giggled. Mr. Thomas walked into their midst and looked at Jake. “I expect you to leave the school premises and not be back until the next semester.” Jaw looked at him and grinned. “So are you really going to have me suspended when it is glaring that he is wrong? Is this all about the money and post to you?” “Do you even know who I am? I can make you disappear if I want to.” Maxwell said again. He brought out some dollar notes and sprayed them into the air. Some of the students rushed at him, picking up a few notes. “A hundred-dollar note for anyone who could carry this nobody off the school premises.” Maxwell said, bringing out a bundle of dollar notes. Everyone gasped as the school goons began to show themselves, flexing their muscles, but then Liam spoke, and everyone went dead silent. “Two hundred dollars for anyone who could do the same to this bully!”
