Being The Vampire Kings Mate

 ❮ Astrid's P.O.V ❯ "Astrid it's time to wake up honey we have to get ready for the arrival of the vampire king for the mating ritual," my mom says shaking me awake. I groan sitting up in the bed only to be drug into my bathroom. "Take a shower and brush your teeth then come here, I'm picking out your dress" Sighing I turn on the shower getting it to the right temperature. As it heats up I think about this ceremony or ritual. Every new king goes around to each state or city to find the beloved to rule their coven alongside with. Every girl at 16 and older has to attend and since I'm 18 I have to go. Once the shower was at the right temperature I hopped in and started showering afterward I brushed my teeth then exited the bathroom. "Finally, put this on," she said handing me my gown she chose. After I was dressed she did my hair in some loose ringlets. I slipped on some black heels and I was ready. ﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏ When I arrived they were lining up the girls so I quickly grabbed my sticker and went to get in line. After we were lined up they announced the king. He walked down the row of girls moving back in disgust as they pushed their boobs up trying to look sexy. As he came closer to me I put my head down. He stopped in front of me and as he said this word my heart stopped. "Mine!" • • • • • • • • • • Oh no, I can't be...he's not going to want me...I'm not good enough. With those thoughts in my mind, I took off as best as I could in heels and a floor-length gown. I didn't get very far before I was grabbed around my waist and pulled against a solid chest. "Let go of me, I'm not good enough I can't be your mate you've made a mistake!!" I screamed while clawing and hitting at the arms around me while tears ran rapidly down my face. I was turned around quicker than a blink. "Never speak lowly of yourself you are perfect" he hissed showing his fangs at me. I flinched but didn't stop. "Please let go I can't be your mate I can't be!" I screamed still struggling but he just held on tighter before whispering "Sleep" in my ear. And that's exactly what I did. But the last thing I heard was, "I finally found you" ﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏ I awoke in my room, sitting up the first thing I saw was my mom."Mama, please tell me it was just a dream" I whimpered. She shook her head sadly before responding, "it wasn't honey, you're his mate". I jumped up from bed screaming,"you can't let him take me, you can't, please mama". Hearing footsteps come up the stairs, I ran to the bathroom and locked the door. I dropped to the floor screaming out and pulling on my hair. I started to hyperventilate on the verge of a panic attack hearing fist pound on the door. "Open the door, Astrid, please!" I heard my mom screaming. "Astrid I'm going to kick the door down if you don't open it right now". Raine deep vibrated through the door. Not knowing what to do I quickly ran to the tub and climbed in. Hearing the door crack then completely shatter I screamed. I was grabbed and pulled into a strong chest. Still screaming, I pounded on his chest and cried until I was exhausted. I felt my body get lifted and brought to my bed where I was laid down and covered with my duvet. " We'll talk about this after you relax, come downstairs when you feel like you can handle the situation" he stated calmly before walking out of my room.
