Chapter 3

625 Words
Duke Later that day I walked in to Sam’s doorway, watching him sitting at his desk reading a book about plants. “So how was the interview?” “Great”, not looking at me as he spoke. “Did you get the job?” “Yep, start tomorrow at 10 am” “So what kind of job is it?” “One that will help me with school.” “So is your boss female or male?” “Female” “Is she hot?” “Well, she is five-five, creamy white skin, long blond hair, blue eyes, athletic with curves and weighs about 145. Oh and she is about a D cup. Now that I have answered you the straight guy way, I will now answer you my way. Considering I am gay, I would say she is beautiful and you’re stupid. So, please leave, I am busy.” I was struck dumb. My baby brother was gay? Why wasn’t I told? I went round the house trying to find my mother. Finally, I found her in the office on the phone. “Thanks Millie, that would be lovely considering we haven’t seen you guys in a while. Bye-Bye” “Mom, why didn’t you tell me Sam was gay all those times I called home?” Pissed because my family kept something from me, considering the only thing I kept to myself was going into the military and the only other person who knew up until the night before the wedding was Jazz. “He told us not to. Why I have no idea? By the way, Millie Brookes is coming over tomorrow with her grandson, since they are back in town and, apparently, Jasmine has business and has decided to open a*****e here in town. Still confused about my brother. “Okay, good night mom”, I wished her well and headed to my room. Once I closed the door, her comment sunk in. Jazz is married and has a kid and she is in town to stay. I rolled on to my side and punched my pillow. The only woman I have ever loved and will love is married to another man. *** Jasmine “Grandma, you did what!!!?” I asked, trying not to yell. “I talked to Ms. Black-Storm and tomorrow Avery and I are going to visit them. They were basically family to you and, Avery is their family. So, I believe my grandson should at least know them as people.” She made sense, but Avery was mine. “Grandma, I don’t want that, they will know he looks just like Duke at that age, expect his eyes. Think grandma, considering Duke is 6’2, with black hair, green eyes, and pure lean muscle in high school, I think they will notice. Avery is like a carbon copy. Grandma, I don’t want them to hate me or tell Duke considering he is married to Eva.” I said, biting my thumb nail and thanking God my son was in bed and not hearing the details about his father. “Oh, stop worrying, everything will be fine and you can come pick us up when you and Sam are done. Also, if you have forgotten where they live, just follow Sam home and I am not giving up on this Jasmine.” “Fine, Fine. I am going to bed. I have to be up early. We will see you tomorrow, love you.” “Love you too”. I waited until I heard the soft click and put the phone on the coffee table and went upstairs to my room and wondered what the hell she was getting me into.
