Kaila's POV
I just came from school. I went directly to Geo's house. He was not around. I know that he left already to stay with his aunt. I hope he'll be okay there!
I was about to go when I see a sticky note posted in his door. The first two words are: Dearest Kaila.
I continue to read.
Dearest Kaila,
Faith has brought us into confusion. I am sorry for leaving you, but this is nothing to worry about. We'll still be seeing each other in school. Thank you for the support.
I will never forget everything Kaila, the time we spent together and the care you gave me when I have nothing but a mere sketch of sadness.
Stay connected Kaila even if the only thing we can do is to hold everything under control. Let's just be patient to each other. Time will come that we'll enjoy life to the fullest.
Love,
Geo
I was touched by his words. He is not just advancing in spiritual life but also in wisdom. That is why, he is great! But this longing, up until when should I hold? I don't know even. If there is someone who knows. I think, it is God! I put all my trust to him, and to him alone even if things are complicated now, especially between me and Geo.
Oh, it's almost time, I have to go. I close the door gently then started running down to the lobby until I reach the gate. I look back. I remember the days that we used to be happy, exchanging smiles and cracking jokes.
When I turn my head towards the road, I saw my mom standing, waiting for me to turn a gaze.
"You miss him, am I right?" she said.
"Yes, mom! Very much!"
"I know, but it happened for a reason."
"Yeah." I responded.
"You looks like crying?"
"How did you know that I was there, Mom?" I ask my mom to excuse myself, and to divert her attention to other topic.
"You know yourself better, my dear!"
I just keep quiet. I know I can just tell the truth about how I feel now, but I know that she will have many excuses to tell as well. I am also tempted to ask mom if it's okay to visit Geo to her aunt if she has vacant time. I mean, I could tell her to allow me visit Geo in his aunt's house.
"Kaila, bring this to our pig." My mother asks me. She did not notice that I fall asleep. She looks at me, but instead of waking me up. She just asks father to do it. After they bring down all the food from marketing, father wakes me.
"Oh, I fell asleep?"
"It's obvious that you're exhausted of the many tasks today?"
"Yeah."
"Is the class good?"
"You mean fine? Yes!"
"Okay, get out from the car and help mom prepare our dinner."
"Yes, dad."
It was 4: 57 p.m., we're almost late in preparing food for the dinner. We help mom prepare the food. Then, after some minutes as we are already complete, we eat together as a happy family, but Geo is still lurking in my mind.
When everyone has gone to rest. I went to the terrace, looking at the small deeper. I remember that time that Geo used to play with me during night time. He told me. If I cannot come this night, just look at the small deeper, you can assure that I am already with you.
Those words are very sweet for me.
"You've been all alone here, do you have problem that you can just unveil?" Mom is awake.
"I really miss him, Mom!" I started crying.
"But you'll be seeing each other tomorrow."
"I mean, it's not like before anymore, Mom!"
"Life is not a piece of cake, my daughter. Besides, you're too young to think about that. The two of you should focus first in your studies. Then, if you can now manage to be in a relationship, then you can walk an extra mile."
My mother hugged me, tapped my shoulder and waiting for me to fall asleep.
It's now time for class. I am in school waiting for the presence of Geo to appear. I cannot find him in the canteen. I can't find him also in our classroom.
"Looking for Geo?" Ben asks me.
"Yes!" I answer immediately.
"Do you know where he is?" I followed up.
"He's in the gymnasium together with his friends playing basketball. You know what Kaila, you need to relax. It's still 45 minutes before the time, why in a hurry?"
"Nothing." My mood changes as he utter those words.
"Just kidding," he said. He is laughing as he try to defend himself.
I left him, very talkative. It's noisy to hear those empty words that are not beneficial. I went to the gymnasium as he said. Indeed, Geo's there, playing. I am now happy to see him smiling. He is indeed strong.
He sees me standing near the bench. He stops. Everybody stops. He approach me and asks, "How are you doing?"
"Am doing great. How about you?" I am seeing his muscles and basketball shirt fit to each other.
"Wow! That's good news." He beckoned me to sit beside him.
"You didn't answer my question yet."
"Ahhh...that? Struggling."
"So, back to be a star again in school?"
"Yeah, maybe."
Now he is staring at me.
"What?"
"Just checking if the beauty doesn't have any damage."
"Really?" I laugh very loud that makes the other students turn their attention to me.
"Still fresh."
"You're really kidding me, huh?"
Then the conversation continue. We laugh, c***k jokes, and then silence. Waiting for someone to talk first. Geo was about to say something but the bell rings. We run to our classroom. We didn't notice the time.
Everybody is in the classroom already. I can barely breathe. Thank God, our adviser is not yet around. Then we both laugh.
As we both enter inside, everybody seems to know that Geo's mother left to Korea.
"Hello, Geo! How are you?" Vanessa said to him.
"Geo, I hope you'll continue your study with us. Don't leave us for korea." They chorus.
