Chapter 18 With exertion, Sartin’s body ached after convalescing for so many weeks. His soul soaked in the water and the sun, pleased to be back in his natural habitat. Sartin thanked the Princess for his life, for the sea in which to swim, and for the sun to warm him. He said a special prayer of gratitude for Maru who saved him. Had Maru not found Sartin, a land predator might have found his near lifeless body on the beach. High tide could have carried him, unconscious, back to sea to become a meal for some hungry creature. Maru’s weight on him wasn’t a hindrance but helped to stretch and strain his atrophied muscles. Even in the cool water, Maru’s skin warmed Sartin’s back.
