Chapter 26
Kris knew that Korrin was exhausted, but he didn’t fall asleep. They were close together on Kris’s bed, Korrin’s body heat radiating to her. The nights were getting colder, but she found that just being this close to him was enough to keep her warm.
“Kris?” His voice was soft in the darkness, so unlike him.
“Yeah?” she whispered. He was laying on his back, staring up at the darkness of the tent roof. She was laying on her side, one hand on his chest. She hadn’t intentionally put it there, it had just happened. Neither of them seemed to mind. From her side, she could see his eyes glinting dully in the darkness, catching what little light was in the tent.
“You ever think there could be something?” he asked. Then he continued, “Between us?”
