Chapter 29
Kris yelled in alarm as everything happened at once. There were four guards inside of the tent, and they immediately moved in to stop Ruslo as he charged at Korrin. She wasn’t sure how bad Korrin was hurt.
Korrin roared. He was obviously surprised by Ruslo, but he was quick enough to grab Ruslo and throw him over his head. Kris dodged to the left, coming up close to one of the guards. She looked up and was met immediately by a boot to the face.
She saw stars, her vision going dim for a few seconds before coming back into focus.
“Wha?” she sputtered. She felt blood dribbling out of her mouth. The guard raised his rifle, pointing it directly at her face, and Kris finally understood. These guards were Ruslo’s men. Ruslo’s assassins.
