Chapter 28
Korrin looked around the tent.
“Where is Kris?” he asked. The man next to him shrugged his shoulders, so Korrin said, “Find her.”
The guard moved off to do his bidding. He wasn’t one to order people around, but he didn’t like that Kris was missing. He’d gone out to get them some breakfast; there was an older woman on the far side of the camp that made the best food he’d ever eaten. She’d helped him cure many hangovers, and the food was great even if he wasn’t feeling bad.
He’d meant to surprise Kris with breakfast in bed, but she was gone.
Meanwhile, other men were packing up the tent. The carpets were being rolled up and he moved out of the way as the one he was standing on was put away. The bed from last night was gone, as were most of the tables inside.
