Chapter 19 :The great tragedy.

It was midnight, and the new year would soon begin for us. Alexandre and I were in the water.

The water was cool, but still warm enough to warm us up. The stars shone in the sky, creating a magical atmosphere.

Suddenly I realized that I could no longer hold myself back. My feelings for Alexander had reached a point of no return. I approached him in the water, we looked in the eyes, and gave him the most passionate kiss of my life... My first kiss...

His lips were soft, his breath warm. I felt her heart pounding, as my hands caressed her back. It was a magical moment, but short-lived. The lack of air forced me to stop.

- Why did you kiss me?, he asked me, clearly lost.

I did not have the answer to this question. My emotions were too strong to shape them into words.

- Because..., I stammered unable to continue my sentence.

I pushed her gently to escape from her embrace. It was too intense, too emotional a moment for me. I needed a moment to collect my thoughts.

However, there was someone watching us. We were far from thinking that we had an unwanted audience.

- I'm going to kill her, said the woman who had been watching us from afar.

Afterwards, after doing what I did, I did not return to the mansion. I didn't want to explain myself to Alexander, so on the spot, I preferred to walk home.

On the way, a car honked behind me. It was the twins' father's car. They were going home with Anna when they saw me.

- Come on up, said the father of the twins to me.

I then got into the car. Seeing me cheating from head to toe, the girls started asking me what had happened to me. So I told them the whole truth...

- What!?, they exclaimed when I told them that I had kissed Alexander with the tongue.

- And you declared your love to her?, Rina asked me happily.

I didn't answer, I just shook my head from left to right to say no.

- Seriously!?, they exclaimed disappointed.

I could understand the girls because even I wondered why I hadn't told him that I had fallen in love with him. My feelings towards him had started for years and every day I had tried to hide them... But we can say that tonight, my feelings had taken over me.

The next morning, I had not returned home the day before. Instead, I stayed at Rhine and Rina's to talk about what I needed to do to declare my love to Alexander. Anna hadn't come home the night before either, so the four of us slept in the Clowns' living room.

I got home at 8am and Anna got home around 9am.

Everything seemed to be calm at home when I arrived, my parents, my grandparents were not there. So I took advantage of this moment to take a good cold shower and change. I then decided to take a look in the garden behind the house to see if my grandmother was there.

I found my grandmother watering her pretty flowers in her garden.

- Hello Grandmother, I said hugging her.

- Oh my little Cassandra," she said to me happily, "happy new year my darling.

- THANKS ! Happy New Year to you too Grandma...

She greeted me warmly and offered me a cup of tea. We chatted about this and that for a while, and she told me about how she had taken care of her garden over the years. I felt soothed and relaxed watching her work in the garden. She then told me what our family had done on New Year's Eve. It was a simple little party as usual, but what made the day special was that my sister's future husband was there.

I realize that I hadn't mentioned to you that my big sister had stopped studying to get married.

So far, their marriage had not been able to take place due to several setbacks. Therefore, my family had decided to hold their wedding a few days before the end of the week. Thanks to the money I had earned as an organizer at the Diamonds party, my family had been able to organize everything so that my big sister could get married before the end of this week.

If my grandmother was alone at home, it was because everyone had left to take care of the preparations for my dear big sister's wedding. I then had an idea. I was going to persuade my parents to invite Alexander, to thank him and also to try to tell him how I felt about him…

However, I would never have believed that this decision would cause me harm.

My parents accepted my idea and even went to Alexander's to give him the invitation, which he obviously accepted.

That's when Anna came to my house. She was very excited and told me she had great news to share with me. She had been accepted into an academy in France and that she would be leaving in a few weeks. We celebrated this together, but at the same time I realized that our lives would soon take different paths.

We discussed my feelings for Alexander and Anna encouraged me to tell him the truth at my sister's wedding because she knew how much I cared for him. I got excited to tell Anna in detail about my impromptu kiss with Alexander, but I haven't had the courage to declare my love yet.

However, I knew Anna was right and that I had to act. My plan had worked, Alexander was coming to the party, it's up to me. So I decided to take advantage of this day to plan my declaration of love for the big day so as not to slip away or say anything at the same time. It was time to take matters into your own hands and follow my heart.

At the Diamonds...

-I wonder what the hell are you doing with a girl like that, Monika said to Alexander.

Alexander had accompanied my parents to their car when they went to his house to give him his invitation. Monika had appeared behind him when my parents had left.

- I'm not going out with her, Alexander replied.

- If that was the case, why did you kiss her?! Said Monika.

- My private life does not concern you! It doesn't even concern you anymore, so leave me alone, replied Alexander, heading for the cabin.

Monika was the person who spied us in the forest. She watched Alexander walk away before saying:

- If I can't get you… Then no one will get you.

Then with that, she disappeared.

The wedding day was a day of celebration and joy for everyone. The bride and groom were happy and the guests were full of enthusiasm. After the ceremony at the church, my big sister organized the traditional bouquet toss for the single girls. One of my sister's bridesmaids, who was also one of her best friends, managed to catch up with the bouquet.

All the guests then proceeded to where the wedding party was taking place. The party location was near the church, so I decided to walk there. To my surprise, I met Alexander on the way. We walked together in silence, but I couldn't stop thinking about what had happened on New Year's Eve. I kissed Alexander for no apparent reason and ended up running away.

Once we got near the bridge, Alexander took me by the arm and forced me to look him in the eye. I couldn't understand why he was reacting like this, and I felt pain as his fingers clenched on my arm.

"You're hurting me!" I told him.

He then asked why I kissed him, but I was too confused to answer. I watched him with fear and shyness as he insisted on seeing my eyes.

"If you can't tell me why you kissed me," he would tell me, "let me guess." Let me see your eyes...

I finally opened my eyes, and that's when he let me go. I understood that he needed to know why I had kissed him, but I couldn't answer him.

Then, a car appeared out of nowhere, traveling at high speed and with no sign of slowing down. The car was out of control, and the driver had failed to brake. The car was heading straight for me, but Alexander reacted quickly. He had pushed me to save me, but he couldn't free himself in time. The car hit him, and he fell into the river after the bridge was completely destroyed.

I was left speechless, unable to comprehend what had just happened. Alexander had saved me, but he was now in danger. I ran to the edge of the water that came from the river and saw his body floating in the water. He was almost unconscious, but I knew he was fighting to survive.

I cried out his name in despair, begging him to stay alive. Help arrived very quickly and took him to the hospital. I prayed for his recovery, but realized that my love for him was real and he shouldn't be let go without telling him my sincere feelings.
