Chapter 20 : The departure of Alexander.

780 Words
This day will forever be etched in my memory... At my sister's wedding, an accident happened near the party venue. Two people were injured and one lost his life. One of the injured was in critical condition, between life and death. When Alexander's body fell off the bridge, the car exploded. We were rushed to the hospital, a few minutes after the arrival of the police and rescuers who rescued Alexander. I remember being scared seeing Alexander's condition: several fractured ribs and broken bones, severe bleeding. His left hand had been burned to the second degree by the explosion of the car. Alexander's liver had also been destroyed by a wooden plank passing through his body. Doctors were amazed that he was still alive after being underwater for more than five minutes. Only his heart had not been touched. We were taken care of quickly at the hospital and Alexander was admitted to intensive care for more than 24 hours. I remembered trying to catch Alexander as he fell off the bridge, but the car exploded, knocking me into a rock and knocking me unconscious. Finally, when I regained consciousness in the hospital, a woman accompanied by a boy who looked like Alexander was there. Seeing them, I immediately thought of her falling off the bridge. -Where is Alexander? Where is he?!” I asked the lady. "He's still in the emergency room," she replied. I began to imagine the worst. - "What if he never wakes up again? No… It's all my fault", I thought. I couldn't stay calm, I had tried to get up to look for Alexander. But nurses had come and they administered painkillers to make me lose my strength... - "Jack?", said the lady to the boy who looked like Alexander. - "Yes mother?", he answered. - "Go see how your brother is… I have to talk to this girl." - "Mother, of course." Jack was out of my hospital room. For a long time that I can remember, I had never seen Alexander's mother. Except today... - "Can you leave us alone?" asked Alexander's mother to the nurses. - "Yes madam", said the nurses before going out in their turn. - "Alexander", I said weakly. - "He is between life and death", the lady told me. "But he can still get away with it..." - "How?" I asked her. - "If he leaves the country for treatment abroad, he will be better. Here, he has much less chance of surviving because of the lack of personnel." - "And when should he leave?" - "As of today, tomorrow at most." - "Let me see it please", I begged the lady. - "Alas, this is no longer possible… Sorry." My eyes were filled with tears as I watched Alexander's mother leave. I felt so sad and empty. Alexander's mother came to me and said softly: - Understand me, dear Cassandra. I only want the best for my son and I don't want to risk you seeing the person he has become. I watched her as she left my room, leaving me alone with my sadness and loneliness. That's when Jack arrived, ready to leave with his mother. He gave me a sympathetic look and whispered: - Alexander arrived at the mansion. I did not know what to say. I felt like my heart had just shattered into a thousand pieces. After they left, my parents arrived, terrified by my condition. I was in tears, unable to stop. My mother took me in her arms and said softly: - You'll be fine, darling. Everything will be alright. Meanwhile, across town, Alexander's mother was furious. She had asked a servant where her son was, and had been told that he was in the elder's room. She entered the mansion and headed for the library. She pulled on a book, thus opening a secret room. In this room, there was a large round table in the center, with Alexander's body on it. - The ritual is over, said Rina who was standing behind her. Alexander's body then began to recover. His burns and scars were gradually fading. But his veins had turned black and extremely visible. - Wake up ! It all begins now, my son, said Alexander's mother. And there, Alexander's eyes opened. His green eyes were now red. Jack approached him and said: - Welcome to the big leagues, Alexander! During this time, I was still in the hospital. The costs of my hospitalization had been paid by the Diamonds and the next day I could finally go home. But it was too late, because Alexander was gone and I never saw him again since the accident.
