"Hello, there Saber." The woman in question appeared from behind the bush and smiled while waving energetically: "Hey there! What took you so long? I thought you would never follow me. -There were too many eyes. What were you doing behind the bush? -Everyone knows that's the best hiding place. -And why were you hiding? You knew it was me." Saber shrugged: "What fun would it be waiting without hiding?" Astéria rolled her eyes: "Come on. you could relax a bit. We finally met again; Let me take a look at you: what happened to your hair? Were you always blond? Your eyes always changed colors but your hair was always black. -Brown. -Dark brown. Why did you change it? -Because." Astéria didn't say anything more and waited for Saber to say what she had to. The latter took out a chocolate bar from her pocket and handed it to Astéria who rejected her offer. Saber shrugged and started eating with a comfortable smile. "You made quite a lot of friends! I didn't think they would treat a wizard that well!" Astéria laughed: "She is the only one who treats me well. You should hear what the others call me. -I'm sure they quickly regretted it. You can be quite terrifying when you put your mind at it." Seeing Astéria all silent, Saber raised her eyebrows: "What? You didn't pull their eyes out? What happened? -How did you know I wanted to pull their eyes out? -I've known you for a long time. -How touching. -You don't have to be so sarcastic about it." Saber and Astéria both grew up on the streets which had the effect of bringing people together. They met when they were 12 and had been colleagues since then. They weren't living the same life but still met from time to time to catch up on the latest news or to share the small food they had. It was a weird meeting in such conditions. everything was just too nice for them to talk: "I can't hurt them. -That's getting interesting! What did I miss? You suddenly disappeared and I thought you were dead but here you are alive and well. You even became a sweet sheep. Who would have guessed? I still see that crazy flame in your eyes so why are you holding back? Is it because of her?" Astéria just smiled. She finally found her. Everything was fine now. She didn't care if she had to set her revenge away. All she needed was her and she couldn't scare her with dead bodies. "What about that girl from your dreams? You couldn't shut up about her and disappeared soon after. Did you forget her that easily? I am all for faithed romances and this is disappointing." Astéria didn't say anything and smiled. It took Saber a second but she finally understood and immediately jumped up her mouth wide open: "No!" Astéria nodded slowly. "No! It can't be! -Yes. -That really can't be! You finally made out? Finally! How was it? Are you together now?" Astéria just blushed from imagining it. "Calm down. We didn't make out." Saber signed: "Then what's the big smile for?" Astéria laughed. She tried to play it cool but inside she was boiling with excitement. She wanted to jump all over but she had to force herself to calm down. If she didn't then she knew she would never hold back and jump on Poehina the next time she saw her. Astéria told Saber about everything that's been happening finally able to talk about it to someone and after hearing the story Saber fell back on the couch: "Wow... You are one manipulative snake. You pretend to be someone else just so that she likes you. -I just need her to like me. -By playing a role? -It's not entirely a role. But if necessary then yes. I would be anyone for her." Saber grimaced: "I think I need to puke. Well you are only classmates for now as the real you but this is amazing I have to admit. I am happy for you. I can't believe children are growing up so fast... -We are not only classmates. We wrote to each other and ate together at noon a few times." Saber couldn't recognize Astéria. Was she the same person as the child who pulled out the heart of a bully without batting an eyelid? It couldn't be. She seemed so shy and happy about a simple meal. "Poor Poehina, she will never escape you in her life. -Why would she? I will make her happy." Saber laughed. "I am sure you will. She does seem to like you a lot." Astéria blushed again and Saber crinched. She couldn't get used to this and had to change the topic: "But what about me? Thank you for asking. What have I been up to lately? Well, not much. I am alive as you can see and I am back in town for a few weeks." Astéria didn't say anything: "Thanks for the interest but I will continue anyway. I have a new job and will be staying for a while. -Where? -Wow a question finally! The bar in the crows alley. You could come see me sometimes." Astéria didn't seem to like the idea too much. She hated being away from Poehina for too long. "Bring Poehina too! I really want to get to know her. She is really nice. -I would never bring her to that valley. What if something happened to her? -Don't tell me you can't protect her with all the tricks you know? -Of course I can protect her and she can protect herself perfectly too. You should have seen how impressive she was during the sports festival. I couldn't even go easy on her. I never saw that fierce look in her eyes before. I never knew she could be that sexy with a sword. I really want her to pierce me with it. I don't even care if she cuts my arm off. I'm sure I would like it." Saber started choking on her chocolate: "Okay that's way too much. Chill. No one likes being amputated." Astéria didn't listen at all. "She won the tournament which isn't surprising and you should have seen her smile. She was..." Astéria signed with her eyes losing focus. "She is amazing in sports but I would never expose her to anything dangerous nonetheless. -I understand. Then I'll come visit you at school. You talked about her so much that it feels like seeing a celebrity. I have to get a picture." Astéria frowned: "Don't you dare." Saber laughed: "Why not? I could ask her to sign it and I would hang it up in my room." The air became cold and dark around Astéria and her hair started standing on end. Saber laughed not forgetting to back away a bit nonetheless: "It was just a joke! I am glad that we are friends because you would have killed anyone else who made such a comment. -Don't push your luck. She is my only friend for now. -That hurt a bit even if I figured it out already. But if you get in this state by hearing me joke, how are you supporting her having so many fans? She is a princess after all, she has to have a lot of people following her around." Astéria signed before sinking in her seat: "I want to rip their skin off and pour salt on it to hear them scream before setting them on fire. And that's just the end. Of course I hate it. But it's okay because she hates them too. -Seeing how bitten you are, you wouldn't mind her doing anything." Astéria laughed: "As long as she doesn't leave me I don't care what she wants. I would give her the world on a silver platter if that's what she asks for. I just want her to be happy. -That's really romantic. You should think of it as a honeymoon gift." Astéria looked at her watch before turning around: "It's time to go back. I have been away too long." Saber started following but Astéria motioned her to stay put: "Don't come out immediately. I don't want people to think that we were talking. -Why are you so cold? You are going to hurt me if you continue." Astéria started walking but suddenly turned around and glared at Saber: "One more thing: stop being all friendly with her." As she watched Astéria walk away, Saber signed: "She is way too jealous."
