Devlin     Lotus tossed Lazarus’s head to the side and closed her eyes. I barely had enough time to reach her before she fainted. I lifted her battered body and limped back to the battle field. It felt like I had held my breath as I watched Lotus fight Lazarus. I wanted to step in to end her pain but I knew she would never forgive me if I intervened. Staying on the sidelines was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do.      My tiny mate had endured one hell of a beating. Her face was bruised and her lip was busted. Her arms and legs were covered in cuts and welts. Never once did she cry out from the pain. I looked down at her, relief and pride filling my body. Her oversized shirt was bloodied and torn, and she was only wearing one bunny slipper. Her foot was cut up but healing.       W
