A Kiss for Chaz
Washington, D. C., November 2029
Ginesh came in at the usual time and, as usual, Nancy wasn't there. He finished the coffee he had bought at Starbucks, dumped the empty cup in the trash, then went to Chaz's cage to say good morning.
He reached in, picked up Chaz, causing him to squeal and leaned forward to kiss him. Instead of his ritual kiss, though, Chaz bit Ginesh's lip and took a piece of it with him.
Ginesh screamed and dropped Chaz on the floor. Blood streamed from his upper lip and pain shot across his face. "Son of a b***h! Goddamn! What the hell did you do that for?" Ginesh kicked the cage on the bottom level, then went to the bathroom for a bandage.
He rinsed the wound, applied antibiotic ointment, taped his lip with a small bandage, then returned to the lab.
