CHAPTER 19

ERIK'S POINT OF VIEW So, after Astrid mentioned that we had a problem, I told Camron to get to the pack faster. He didn't ask why or what happened but instead just really put his foot down, making Danny and Geir work to keep up with the car. I tried just to get more details out of her, but I think she was still trying to calm herself down and gather herself before saying anything. I could feel Fenrir start to pace and growling inside my head. we could both sense that Astrid was worried and, needless to say, we didn't like it. I guess the tour of the pack will have to wait till tomorrow. It was starting to get dark out by the time we got to our pack boarder. I told the guards that were manning the gates and that Geir was with us and to get Danny and Geir some clothes so they could get changed quickly. Camron only slowed once the gates had shut behind us, but even then he didn't slow down much. I noticed Astrid looking out the windows at the pack houses as we drove past. Her face seemed to be a mix of wonder and also confusion. "What's the matter Angel?" I nudged her gently, burying my nose in her hair. "Where are all the trees and nature?" She asked, turning to me frowning. "Oh, that. Well, um..." How do I say this properly? "At the back of the pack house there's a forest, and it stretches all round the pack border so our wolves can run free at any time. This was pretty much how I remember the packlands always being." Her frown deepened and she bit her lip slightly. "Angel, the only person biting that lip of yours is me. Am I understood?" She nodded, letting go of her bottom lip. I raised my eyebrows at her. "Yes Alpha." She said, looking up at me through her lashes. "Good girl." I said, kissing the tip of her nose and rubbing my thumb pads over her cheeks. "And if you want, we could plant some more trees throughout the streets." She beamed at me when I told her that. Sooner than I liked, we reached the packhouse. I got out of the car and around to open her door and took Astraid's hand, leading her up the steps and inside, my brothers following close behind us. Loki landed gently on her shoulder, looking around, I think, with an expression of curiosity, if birds could change their facial expressions, that is. The head of the pack house workers came to greet us when we walked in, followed by a couple of others. "Alpha." She said, bowing her head. I nodded in response. "Hello, Sam. Do you think you could get the luggage from the car and just put it in my bedroom please?" "Of course, Alpha. Do you wish them to be unpacked?" She asked, looking over at Astrid and giving a quizzical look to Loki. "No. Just put them in my bedroom, please." I tugged at Astird's hand to bring her forward as she had placed herself slightly behind me. "This is Astid, the future Chiefteness of the Wodens Tribe, and your new Luna. Please treat her with as much respect as my mother." Sam bowed and smiled happily. "Also, this Geir, he is Danny's ma-" I heard some loud coughing coming from behind me. I looked over my shoulder and saw Danny wide-eyed and slightly shaking his head. I furrowed my brows, deciding I'd ask later. "Danny's friend, and Astrids personnel guard. And this is Loki," I said, pointing to the Raven perched now proudly on Astrids shoulder. "He is Astrids' companion." Sam nodded, smiling at them, and I led our group upstairs to my office, so we could all talk. Astrid wouldn't stop looking around, seemingly speechless, all the way till we got to my office. I shut the door when we were all inside and told everyone to take a seat. My brothers went to their desks by habit, it seemed. I sat at mine. Astrid was still lost in her world looking around at everything. Geir walked around the edge of the room running his hand along multiple surfaces, like he was checking for something. He also spent a good amount of time just looking out the window, before he went to sit in front of Danny's desk. I tugged Astrid down to sit on my lap, so I could hold her. She gave a small yelp, before she wrapped her arms around my neck. "So, Angel, can you tell us what exactly you meant to say in the car?" I asked her gently. She tensed up, and her breathing started to get labored. I slowly rubbed small circles on her back, to calm her. Her breathing leveled out and she began to tell us a story of what she had dreamed of. It sounded, to me, a bit like her subconscious was just trying to resolve the problems we'd been having, but mixed with her imagination. I could practically feel Fenrir's hackles raise up when she stopped talking. He was growling and pacing again, making me feel agitated and trapped. I looked at my brothers and they all had looks of skepticism on their faces. Geir had a look of deep concern on his face. "Angel." I said tentatively. "Do you think this could've been just a bad dream?" She turned to me, looking hurt. Fenrir snarled loudly in my head at me. "No." Said Geir, we all turned to look at him. "Ever since she could talk, she would tell the tribe what she would dream of and it'd all be the tales of the Norse gods, giants, their children." He gave me a look at that last word, which confused me. "So, you think that Astrid can, what? have visions in her dreams?" Logan asked. "The elders believe she's a seer," Geir told us. "But just a theory, how do you know the difference between one of these visions and just a wacky dream?" Camron asked gently. "Because I've never had a normal dream, there have always been these visions or stories of the legends we were brought up with, but in so much detail people thought I'd have been there," Astrid said quietly. We sat in silence for a few minutes, before I spoke up, "Right, in that case, Camron, make sure all the security is tightened. Logan double check that every inch of the pack is covered in cameras. Danny push the warriors into training more. They need to be ready, for.." I hesitated before finishing the sentence. "For Odin."
