Chapter 1
Sarah walked home during the early morning hours, it was one of the worst times to walk alone, but she didn’t have someone to walk with her. Pulling her coat closer to her, she walked as fast as the wind would allow. She was only a few blocks from home, she would be warm soon. She hated working nights, but it was the only job she could land in the city. She didn’t have a car, so that played a part too.             Just as she turned the final corner to her apartment building, someone grabbed her from behind, he held a knife to her throat. “You scream you die bitch.” He growled into her ear.             He pushed her down on the ground, “I’ve been watching you for months.” He attempted to cut her throat, but someone grabbed him throwing him into the wall.             The man turned to Sarah. “Get home, stay out of the dark, I may not be here the next time something like this happens.” He said disappearing before her eyes.             Sarah looked down at the unconscious man, the police arrived shortly after it happened. They took her to the hospital and had her checked over. The cut on her neck wasn’t deep enough to require but a couple of stitches, she was told to rest, and then a police officer took her home.             “Thanks for the ride.” She said half smiled. She slowly walked to the door of her apartment, the keys in her hands, her hand trembled. Opening the door, she was greeted by her two cats, and an empty apartment.             She was glad she was home; she wasn’t sure what happened tonight. A guy saved her, but didn’t stay around long enough for her to say thank you. She cuddled with her cats before she decided to go to sleep. She had to work tonight, even though she had a doctor note that said she needed three nights off. Hell, she had to pay the bills and couldn’t afford it.             Sarah tossed and turned most of the day. She decided that she wanted to go for a walk, pulling her blonde hair into a pony tail, she grabbed her MP3 player and walked out the door. The nearby park was busy, but that was kind of good since she didn’t want to be alone anywhere.             Following the path around the lake, she ended up back at the playground, everyone was gone except one guy sitting down looking at his hands. Sarah turned her music down just in case he would try something. The warmth from the sun made Sarah happy. She walked past him “Hey do you have the time?” Marcus said clearing his throat.             “Um.” She said looking down at her wrist, a scar but nothing else. “Two.” She said walking without looking at him.             He slowly got up and followed her out of the park. He looked around to make sure there wasn’t anyone watching before he grabbed her, he put a dagger to her neck. He wanted to scare her enough so she wouldn’t draw attention.             “Hey let me go!” she said struggling in his hold. “Sarah we’ve been looking for you, Legion is going to be happy we found you before the Angels did.” He whispered in her ear.             “Let her go demon.” Carlos said walking closer to them, another man was with him but Marcus didn’t know him. “You are outmatched here Marcus.”             “Demon business Angel boy, don’t worry I’m coming for you soon enough.” Marcus growled at him. “Right now, I need her and we have to leave.”             Sarah struggled in his hold, he was a lot stronger than she was. “What’s going on.” Sarah whined shaking her head, she didn’t want to go with either one. She knew they were coming for her; she just didn’t know when. She didn’t know which one of them were demons, but she had a pretty good idea. “Hey I know you.” She said looking at the man standing in front of her.             “Demon boy here wants to become a demon, so he has to deliver you to his master.” Carlos growled. “I am here to make sure nothing happens to you; you have a special blood line and in one thousand years someone on your bloodline will aide heaven in stopping the demons from doing any more harm to the humans.” He said looking at Marcus. “Are you going to let her go or do I have to hurt you some?” he said puffing up my chest.             “Um excuse me can you guys just let me go, and you can deal with each other?” Sarah said shaking her head.             “No.” Marcus said pushing her into Victor. “Take her to Legion.” He said, Victor disappeared with Sarah.             “You see I have help from an upper-level demon, you will never get to find Sarah again.” Marcus said laughing before he felt Legion call him back. “We’ll talk again real soon Angel boy.” He smiled before he disappeared.             Sarah bit Victor, he released her. Turning around she didn’t see a way out of there. “Where are we?”             “The Shadow Realm.” Marcus said appearing a few feet from her. “Now are you going to play nice, or do I get to have some fun.” He said summoning some magic.             “Enough!” Legion growled walking into the room. “Good you got the girl.”             “Who are you!” Sarah demanded to know.             “Oh, you know who I am.” He snapped at her. “Your Mother the witch she was prepared you when you were a child.”             “Maybe.” Sarah said crossing her arms. “So, what do you want with me then?”             “I want your assistance on making my kind strong again, I want to take the Angels on and win.”             Sarah almost couldn’t contain her laughter. “Well, I won’t be helping you with that. You should find someone else.”             Legion walked over to her, picking her up by the throat. “I don’t have patience for this game witch!” he said looking at Marcus. “She is yours!” he said throwing her into his arms. “Make sure Carlos and the Angels don’t find her until after the ritual. By then it will be too late, and her blood line won’t be pure anymore!” he said before disappearing.             Marcus released her; she fell to the ground. Rubbing her throat, she wasn’t sure what ritual they were planning on doing to her, she had to get away from them. Marcus dropped the book in front of Sarah. “How do you know who I am?” he growled. “Half of the things in this fiction piece of yours happened two thousand years before you were born? Who sent you?” he said walking around the desk.             “No one sent me.” Sarah said shaking her head. “I dreamt them, and I wrote them. I wrote an entire series based on my dreams.” She said looking away from him. “Where are we?”             “You don’t recognize this place?” Marcus challenged.             “No not really.” Sarah said shaking her head. “I don’t even know who you or this guy that brought me is.” She said looking around again, the room was littered with books old and new, there was a big desk and a small window behind the desk.             “I am Marcus, that there is Dremis.” He said pointing the Dremis near the book case, he watched her. “The only reason we found you is because of your books, Dremis the avid reader bought the entire thing when he found the book titled ‘Marcus’.” Marcus said walking towards the door. “Keep her here for now, she is a liability and I don’t need the Angel’s knowing about her.”             Sarah turned to face Dremis. “I don’t even know what you are, if you are even real.” She said looking around, she wanted to pick up one of the books on the ground, but wasn’t sure what the man would do. She wanted to see is she was dreaming, so she pinched herself. “Nope not dreaming.” She said walking over to one of the books.             “I wouldn’t if I were you.” Dremis growled.             “Why not?” Sarah said looking at him, she slowly picked up a book. The book was written in a language she didn’t know what it was. “What is this?”             “Demonic language.” Dremis said without looking at the book. “Something you can’t learn unless you’re one of us.”             Sarah was curious about the demon that watched her, she wasn’t familiar with his name. she wondered if he was someone that she could get to help her. Maybe he would get her out of this world, and then she could find her protectors. She wasn’t sure if they knew where she was.             Sarah picked up another book, she remembered this book from a dream she had, she couldn’t remember if she wrote about it in the series, it didn’t matter. She opened the book, slowly reading the book. Dremis saw she was reading a book he couldn’t understand.             He snatched the book from her hand, she looked up at him. “You can read this?” he snapped at her, making her jump.             “I uh, I don’t know.” She said shaking her head. She didn’t want him to know she understood what the book was talking about. She wasn’t able to read the whole paragraph before he snatched it from her.             Dremis grabbed her by her arm, pulling her over to the chair. “Stay.” He said waving his hand over her, magic bound her in the chair.             “What’s going on here?” Marcus said coming from the hallway.             “She can read this book.” Dremis said throwing the book to Marcus.             Marcus looked down at the book, he couldn’t read the book it was in an ancient language that even the demons didn’t know. “Can you?” he asked walking closer to her.             She turned her head away from him. She didn’t want to help him understand the book, hell she was afraid to read anymore into the book. “I’m not helping you.” She said looking at Dremis and then Marcus.             “Oh, there are ways to get you to help us. We will force you.” Dremis challenged. “In fact, let me show you.” He said walking back to the bookshelf, he pulled a book from there and walked back to her. He opened the book and looked at her. “One more chance.”             “You cannot kill me, you need me.” Sarah challenged back. “Like I said I will not help you.”             Dremis started chanting something in demonic, Sarah did the same in the language of the book they were asking about. He stopped and looked at Marcus. “Yes, she is who we’ve been looking for.” He said closing the book. “She can counter any of the demon spells we throw at her. Put that book some place safe.” Dremis said walking back to the bookshelf.             “You are clever.” Marcus said making the book disappear. “You won’t get a chance to read any more of that book.”             Sarah looked at the two demons in front of her. “Dispareo.” She vanished from their sight.
