Chapter - 1
The moon was watching sadly from the dark sky as the clouds tried to cover it, but the cold wind kept them away. It let the moon gaze at a gorgeous woman walking alone on a dimly lit street. She had a slender and curvy body, with long light brown hair dancing in the chilly breeze. The moon's cold white rays delicately touched her, reflecting off her soft and fair skin. Dark shadows of helplessness and desperation followed her. For months, she had been searching for a suitable job after completing her studies. However, her eternal and hollow beauty always held her back. Every time she went for an interview, men would overlook her excellent qualifications and focus on purchasing her beauty instead of offering her a decent job. She desperately needed that job, but she refused to accept loathsome offers that degraded her body. Today, once again, she was walking home through a smoky and dark street, her face pale and her eyes blurred with tears. She knew her mother would look at her with hopeful eyes, and once again, she would disappoint her, crushing her mother's hopes and making her sad. Ashu Davies clutched her chest tightly, trying to suppress the pain within. Her legs felt lifeless, but her helplessness compelled her to keep moving towards home. Suddenly, she was seized by strong arms, and her mouth was covered, preventing her from breathing or shouting. They dragged her to a dark corner of the street, where there was no light or sign of life. They mercilessly threw her to the ground and forcefully gagged her with a piece of cloth. Men held her arms, and she struggled to break free, but they were overpowering. Her tear-filled eyes couldn't see their faces clearly, but she could hear their intentions. The fear of being r***d by these two strong and deranged men was terrifying. They tore her jacket with a knife, their actions hurried. They laughed in the chilling atmosphere, while her body was drenched in sweat, making it difficult to breathe or even scream. Heavy rain began to pour, intensifying her struggle. The struggle for escape lasted for nearly ten minutes. Suddenly, one of the men was pulled back, stumbling to the ground. The other man released her and tried to kick his opponent, but he was struck on the head with a powerful punch, falling unconscious. The remaining man stared at the imposing figure of his opponent, who covered her with his jacket after retrieving it. He gulped nervously as the opponent turned to look at him with sharp and intimidating eyes. Water dripping from his hair and chin added to his cold and attractive appearance. The man couldn't muster the courage to attack and attempted to flee. Just then, the opponent grabbed a rod and hurled it towards him, causing him to fall to the ground, his legs struck by the rod. Before they could escape, the police arrived at the scene and arrested both men. Vedh Balon turned to look at the woman, still in the same position. But before he could approach her, the police intervened, stopping him. "Thank you, Mr. Balon. Your help led us to apprehend these terrifying serial rapists," the police officer acknowledged. Vedh Balon nodded slowly and turned his attention back to the woman. He crouched down, removing the cloth from her mouth. Trembling in the heavy rain and sobbing uncontrollably, she was startled when he didn't wait and simply carried her in his arms. She began to struggle, but he halted and gazed at her with deep eyes. Her resistance ceased as she stared in shock at his attractive face. He?! Vedh Balon placed her on the front seat of his car, staring at her intently for a moment. She swallowed and almost forgot the ordeal she had just endured. "Why on earth were you walking alone on these dark streets at night?" he asked in a low, deep voice. It didn't seem like he was scolding her, just casually inquiring. "I was heading home," she replied, her voice and lips trembling as she lowered her head. "Why didn't you take the subway or the highway? Why did you choose these dangerous shortcuts?" His voice remained deep, and although he wasn't angry with her, he sighed slowly, suppressing his anger. He was scared, worried for her. When he had been driving, he noticed her walking alone on that dark street, despite the fact that the area was under police surveillance for two rapists. He couldn't leave her alone, so he followed behind. His concern was justified. She had put herself in danger. He was relieved that he had saved her, but he was also sincerely angry because she never accepted his help. She was courageous and independent, but in the end, she was a woman who needed to take care of herself. Vedh Balon raised his hand, intending to caress her head and provide comfort. However, she covered her face and sobbed pitifully. He gently placed his hand on her head and embraced her tightly, offering a sense of security and care. She buried her face in his stomach, crying as much as she could. She never expected to feel this helpless and vulnerable. If he hadn't come to her rescue, she would have suffered a brutal r**e or even lost her life. Vedh Balon swallowed hard, holding back his own emotions. He continued to stroke her head, holding her tightly, even as he stood outside in the heavy rain. She sat in the car, crying while clutching his stomach. He couldn't stop her. After a moment, Ashu Davies smiled softly, realizing that this man was not only her classmate but also her neighbour. Ashu Davies took a sip of water and handed the bottle back to Vedh Balon. He placed it back in its holder and gazed at her with kind eyes. She seemed to be alright. "What are you staring at?" he asked in a gentle voice. "I'm genuinely grateful to you," she replied, maintaining her low smile. "Enough of that. I don't want to hear this nonsense," he responded, his voice turning cold as he stared straight ahead at the street. Undeterred, Ashu Davies smiled and directed her gaze towards the dark street. "It's been a long time since we last met," he spoke in a deep, low voice. "We both attended the same school. You were my senior, and then suddenly...you left the city to pursue higher education," Ashu Davies turned her head and looked at him with a gentle smile. "My mother informed me that you're back." She added. "And yet, you didn't come to see me," he said, looking at her with a hint of disappointment. Ashu Davies smiled and lowered her head. "How could I face you? You've become a renowned surgeon, a doctor. And who am I? I'm still that poor girl," her voice trembled with anxiety as he observed her attentively. "Even though I've become one of the best surgeons, I'm still the same Vedh Balon who was your senior and your neighbor. I'm still the Vedh Balon who used to share my lunch with you," he reminisced. Ashu Davies looked at him with tears welling up in her eyes. "I knew you wouldn't come to see me, so I visited your house every evening, but you were never there. I wish you had come to see me after all these years," his voice remained low and deep. They locked eyes for a moment, and she smiled while lowering her gaze. "You've become strong and handsome," she uttered. Vedh Balon chuckled, fastened his seat belt, and started the car. "Let's go home," he said, and she looked out of the car with teary eyes. Vedh Balon's family had moved to a nearby apartment after he left the city. They were good neighbors, and his parents had always held a fondness for Ashu. She was still anxious about her unemployed status in front of him. Vedh Balon didn't disturb her, understanding the thoughts running through her mind. He glanced at her several times, but she remained lost in her own world, causing him to sigh inwardly each time. When the car stopped at the entrance of the apartment complex, she snapped back to reality and hesitantly looked at him. "Vedh..." Vedh Balon regarded her with seriousness, aware of what she wanted to say, yet giving her a chance to express herself. "It would be better if you don't tell my mother about today's incident," she hesitated. Vedh Balon smiled warmly and nodded slightly. "Will you come and see my mother?" she finally beamed at him. "Absolutely. You go ahead. I'll park the car." Ashu Davies stepped out of the car, and he watched her slender figure as he sat behind the wheel. His warm eyes gradually turned cold and distant. This girl had grown more beautiful with each passing day. The sensations he had felt as a child, looking at her, seemed to resurface. She was a stunning beauty, and perhaps that's why she couldn't find the right company. Vedh Balon drove the car towards the parking lot, lost in his own thoughts. Despite Vedh Balon's family settling in a nearby apartment, he still maintained his house here. After returning from abroad, he made it a point to visit Ashu Davies' house every evening, just to catch a glimpse of her.
