Quinn Industries — Executive Floor
No one spoke freely when he entered the building.
They adjusted to him instead.
Conversations dropped mid-sentence. Screens changed instantly. Even footsteps seemed quieter.
Alexander Quinn moved through the executive floor without acknowledging any of it.
His assistant followed at a precise distance, already carrying what would be approved and what would not survive his attention.
The boardroom doors opened.
A presentation was already in motion.
He didn’t sit.
He watched for a few seconds.
Then spoke.
“Restart.”
No tone. No emphasis.
Just direction.
The presenter froze, then restarted from the beginning.
No one interrupted when he stopped halfway through and corrected a figure.
No one ever did.
When it ended, he signed the document without looking twice.
Then left.
The silence that followed was always heavier than his presence.
FLASHBACK — QUINN HOSPITAL
He was arriving at Quinn Hospital when everything happened.
Not in a hurry. Not distracted. Just precise, as always.
Rain hadn’t fully started yet, but the sky already looked unsettled.
He stepped out of the car and walked toward the entrance—
And she stepped off the curb at the same time.
Collision.
Brief.
Controlled.
She nearly lost balance.
His hand caught her arm instantly.
Firm. Exact. No hesitation.
“Watch where you’re going,” he said.
Calm. Detached.
“I didn’t see you,” she replied.
A pause.
Then he released her.
Cleanly.
Like it never needed to continue.
And walked past.
No second glance.
No curiosity.
She stood still after he left.
Not shaken.
Just aware that something about him didn’t behave like most people.
He didn’t linger.
He didn’t soften.
He didn’t look back.
And somehow, that made him harder to forget.
