Chapter 3
“I got so much to tell you girl,” Janice said to Renee as she walked into her beautiful three-level home.
Renee was her best friend who knew Jared very well when he lived in San Francisco through her boyfriend Al, who went to college with Jared and the two remained good friends over the years. The couple introduced Janice to Jared five years back, and the two hit it off very well.
“I have to be at the station in two hours, but let’s meet for drinks this evening,” Janice said excitedly over the phone, ready to tell her friend everything that happened the previous night.
As Janice prepared for the day, her thoughts were on her time with Jared. She missed him terribly over the years, but she wondered if this was all be too good to be true.
The last thing that she wanted to do was get too attached to him, just for him to pick up and leave again as he did before. He told her over drinks that he was he was back in San Francisco on business, but according to him, it looked like he may be moving back permanently soon. He did not really go into the details as to why though.
What is he hiding she thought as she slipped on her expensive Louis Vuitton’s, pausing for a second as several thoughts raced through her head? However, the memory of the s*x they shared, made her not want to think about anything negative about this man as she smiled to herself while walking out of her apartment to make the short drive to the station.
“Quiet in the studio please!” The voice rang out as Janice walked into the station as the engineering director counted down on his fingers, 3… 2… 1.
The morning news anchor, who sat perfectly in her chair smiled warmly at the camera while preparing to share the current, and breaking news with the bay area.
Janice would go on that afternoon, but was getting some stories together, as well as some other things that she needed to do around the station. The scene behind the set at the popular news station could almost be described as a scene on Wall Street, which is what it had been nicknamed by many of the employees. The only difference was, it had more of a controlled chaos than Wall Street on most days.
The large office space was filled with cubicles of journalist typing up stories, running around, bumping into each other to get the stories to the editors who fixed, and corrected the information. In the mix was also the producers, and executive producers working collectively trying to get the flow for the daily news exactly right. Janice’s office was on the other end of the building, but unfortunately, she had to walk through Wall Street to get there.
“Good morning Janice,” one of her co-workers said to her as she made her way to the kitchen to grab a cup of coffee.
“Good morning Cindy,” Janice responded.
Cindy was a skinny, five-foot-eight-inch, light skinned female with long, bone straight, dark auburn hair, light brown eyes, and thin lips that was always painted with light pink lipstick.
She had breast that was larger than they should be for her body frame and was blessed with a round thick ass which captured much attention from many of the guys around the station.
She started working at the station in 2012 when Janice was five years in and was one of those females that thought she was the best thing walking God’s green earth.
Cindy was the type of female that wanted everyone to think she was living a different type of life than what she really was. She lived way beyond her means, and everyone knew it. Her main mission was to keep up with the Jones’, by any means necessary.
It was no secret that she wanted badly to live the lifestyle that the top news anchors and executive producers did. Instead of staying in her lane, and living within the means of her position, which was an entry level Broadcasting Journalist, Cindy would rather go broke by trying to impress everyone around her.
On one occasion, Janice overheard her asking for an extension to pay her car payment on her nearly new Lexus, which she obviously could not afford. The word around the station was that she also received a numerous amount of collection calls from bill collectors almost every other day.
“Is that a Michael Kors bag that you were carrying earlier girl?” Cindy asked, like a little kid who just saw a new flavor of skittles and wanted a handful.
“Yes, it was, you must know your designers,” Janice replied as she finished making her coffee to her liking.
Janice did not really have anything against Cindy, it was just something about her that she felt was fake and dishonest, beyond the obvious, so she decided a long time ago to stay her distance.
It was also known that Cindy would try to attach herself to any man that she felt had any type of money. This was another reason why Janice wanted to keep her distance, it was to many times when Jared came to the station to visit her, and Cindy would appear out of nowhere as if she smelled him out.
She was always noticeably overly helpful when it came to him, she just did too much, especially with his then woman was right there. Everyone, including her knew that she and Jared was officially dating and Jared, never wanting to be rude, tried his best to be as polite as possible with her without crossing any lines. However, he told Janice on many occasions that she made him feel extremely uncomfortable on his visits.
To not have to deal with her, Jared stopped coming inside the station on his visits. Instead, the couple would meet either outside the station, or off site altogether.
“When is that fine man of yours coming back?” Cindy asked Janice on one occasion, shortly after Jared left two years prior.
None of your fuckin’ business, is what Janice wanted to say, but instead, she settled for, soon. Even though at that time, her and Jared were not together, she found herself mad as hell that Cindy had the audacity to come at her that way.
“Have a wonderful day,” Janice said to Cindy as she left the kitchen with her piping hot coffee.
“You do the same,” Cindy replied, watching Janice sashay away, wishing she were her.
As the day rolled on, all Janice could do was think about Jared, she wondered what he was up to since she had not heard anything more from him. She would soon be on air, and just wanted to hear his voice if for nothing more than just a few seconds.
“You have reached Jared, you know what to do after the beep,” Jared’s deep voice said through the phone. Just his voice alone made her wet.
“Today, at the top of the hour we have breaking news,” Janice’s strong, professional voice rang out in the studio as she laid out the top stories of the day to the afternoon audience of the bay area.
For the next hour, Janice and her co-anchor spilled out what happened around the world, along with the new messes Donald Trump had made during the last couple of days and hours, which had been plentiful.
As the “off air” light lit up, Janice took a swig of water as she got up from her chair and walked through the accumulation of people, wires, and cameras to walk outside for some fresh air.
While walking towards a small fountain, she noticed a white SUV pull into a nearby parking space. Not ever noticing this car before, Janice slowly sat on the bench while delicately sipping her water and pretending to look at the paper in her hands but was suspiciously watching over her large designer sunglasses as the vehicle’s driver’s door opened.
As the figure walked around the car and came into view, Janice jumped up smiling from ear to ear before running to meet him.
"Woman, why you over there being nosey?" Jared asked as he laughed at her before planting a long kiss on her lips.
“What are you doing here?!" Janice asked, surprised, and caught off guard.
"I was in a meeting when you called a couple of hours ago, so you were obviously missing me like I was missing you.”
Jared always knew the right things to do and say that always made Janice feel like a princess.
"I wanted to see you, so I decided to drop by," He added.
The excited pair shared the next thirty minutes together outside, enjoying the beautiful weather that the bay area had to offer as well as enjoying each other’s conversation.
“I’m meeting Renee after work for drinks but would love if you would come by my place later,” Janice said coyly as she pressed firmly against the huge bulge in his pants, wanting badly for it to be back inside of her.
"You haven’t said nothin’ but a word, I want some more of that anyway," Jared whispered in her ear as he caressed her ass as they leaned against his car.
You don't have to worry about that Janice thought as she laughed and playfully pushed him away.
“I will have to see about that,” Janice said before kissing him passionately and letting him know that she had to go.
