A STORY OF REALITY

It started off as a normal day in a normal country, a young teenage boy named Daniel living alone in an apartment, goes to the university. So Daniel was given a certain amount of money from his father to pay for the apartment he stays in. As time went on, the exact date to pay the rent for the apartment didn’t come early, and by that time, the teenage boy has already spent the money on some things in school like buying food stuffs, paying for things in school and would sometimes get a snack after class because he doesn't have his breakfast before leaving his home and there was a time the young boy even tried trading, but that didn't really work out for him, he also gave part of the money to his friend because he also wanted to use that chance to go in to crypto currency, but unfortunately, some stories came up and it didn’t work out for the teenage boy. Poor Daniel was left in thoughts and didn’t know what to do, he tried to stay calm and think of different ways to get the money back, he tried asking people but that didn't workout at all, he also tried gambling/betting but that didn’t work out for the boy, trading?...likewise. He tried his best to survive with the little money he had left, though he got a little help from some of his friends and some didn’t even care. So on a faithful weekend, Daniel was in his room that smelled , his poorly painted wall, cracked floors, his short fridge that was soo loud it even disturbs the other hostel mates in the building. When he turned seventeen he thought he would have free will go around doing whatever he likes, being naughty, and no one to nag him for keeping his socks laying around on the floor or even about washing his cloths, but all those dreams faded quickly. Daniel woke up on a Saturday morning rolling on his bed and ended up looking sad, looked at the ceiling fan and reached his hand out saying to him self How do I survive today? He did the usual morning routine like brushing his teeth, taking his bath, and cleaning around the room even though it would still look messy eventually, but he still had to doing it considering he was already growing up and had to become responsible, and then he ate his breakfast with a depressed look on his face as he stares at the crack on the wall in his apartment. He remembered that the rent was due in a month , and his pockets were nearly as dry as the desert. Daniel found out that he had some little change left on him after he looked around the apart for more than ten minutes. It was afternoon in Daniel’s sad and depressed little world, his stomach growled, he had nothing to eat and still wasn’t looking forward to spending the little money he found. He decided to get up, get dressed and go outside. As he went outside, he greeted his fellow hostel mates looking tattered and smelly but that did not really bother him at this point because there would be no point faking his life now. So he left the hostel to go for a little walk and the small of seasoned meat hit his nose and he became uncontrollably hungry; an idea on stealing the seasoned meat came to his mind but poor Daniel just couldn’t bring him self to do that knowing it would lower his standards of living Eventually, an idea of getting a job struck him in his mind and then he goes back from the narrow road he came from back to his hostel. He changed into some better looking clothes, hoping to find a job that he could use to earn some money to pay his rent and feed him self. So he embarked on the journey of finding a job looking better than the last time, he searched around the streets of his neighborhood looking for a source of income. Daniel then saw a man in a small show asking if he needed someone to work for him, but the man said that the income he gets is very little and that he couldn’t afford to hire and pay someone. Daniel looked very sad and depressed and then the man noticed the sad look on his face and decided to have pity on him and said this, “ I cannot hire you but if you can help me move some things and get the place arranged, I will give you a loaf of bread and a drink” said the man. Daniel was shocked to hear that and wanted to decline the offer but the hunger was overwhelming, and so he took up the man’s offer. Daniel immediately doing what ever the man said ,he started arranging the boxes , cleaning the shelves, restocking the goods and cleaning the floor. He was really sweaty and tired but he kept on going because the reward he would get after he was done would be worth it. After a long day of working in the man’s shop, he was finally done with his work and then the man praised him for his work and gave him the loaf of bread and a drink as promised and then Daniel said to the man “thank you sir”. He also asked for the man’s name and then the man replied saying “my name is Mr. Alex” and then Daniel replied…saying, “my name is Daniel sir” Then the man said, it was nice working with you Daniel and he said thank you sir. Immediately Daniel ran back to his apartment with the little reward he got from the work he did, went into his room and locked his door. He ate the bread like he has not eaten bread in his entire life. After eating the bread, he felt like the world was a little less heavy on him. Later that night, he heard a knock on his door. It was a friendly female neighbor of his. She came over with a plate of rice and chicken saying she cooked too much and was wandering if he would care for some food, he was filled with tears of joy and accepted her food immediately and he told her thank you ma “ it came from the heart” and then the woman smiled and said you’re welcome my dear and she left. After eating the woman’s food, he was really happy fulfilled. Daniel decided let himself dream tonight, he looked out his apartment window and looked at the street lights of the city as the cool breeze of the night blows through his hair. He imagined to himself saying “what if the apartment he lived in was a littler bigger, with clean walls, tiles and a bed that didn’t squeak anytime he got on it. He imagined waking up with money In his pocket, going to work in a well paying company and he also imagined smiling without having to force it. He thought to himself thinking” maybe tomorrow something might change
