Chapter Nine OMAR BROUGHT DOWN STEVEN’S coat, and they were both bundled up in hats and mitts by the time Laetitia emerged from her office wearing winter boots and a full-body snowsuit. “Have you ever been snowshoeing before?” she asked. “No,” they both replied. Steven added, “It’s something we wanted to try. We never guessed we’d be doing it in the middle of the night.” “Oh, the middle of the night is the best time to see the grounds—at least in the winter time.” When they got outside, Steven could see what she meant.
