Luna Hale’s life has been shaped by loss and sacrifice. After the death of her parents, she finds herself living with a distant aunt in the small town of Mahalapye, far from the life she once knew. Luna feels her dreams slipping away but everything changes the moment she meets the enigmatic brothers, Adrian and Alexander Night.

Adrian’s charm draws her in, offering the warmth and understanding she longs for, while Alexander’s cold intensity both unnerves and intrigues her. Yet, there’s something strange about the Night brothers—something not entirely human. As Luna uncovers fragments of their dark past, she learns that her arrival in Mahalapye is no coincidence. A centuries-old curse ties her fate to theirs, and dark forces are stirring, threatening to destroy them all.

Torn between love, loyalty, and a destiny she never asked for, Luna must make an impossible choice—one that could either break the curse or doom her and the brothers forever. In a world where nothing is as it seems, Luna must discover who she truly is before time runs out.

The past is written in blood. The future waits to be claimed—if only Luna can survive it.

The boy in the fog
The mist clung to the narrow roads as Luna Hale’s car wound through the forest, its headlights slicing through the thick curtain of white.Mahalapye was nothing like the city she’d grown up in. Here, the sky always seemed overcast, the air dense with the scent of pine, and the shadows stretched a little longer, as if the night held secrets that daylight couldn't reveal. Luna tightened her grip on the steering wheel, her heart heavy with memories she’d tried to leave behind. “Just one year,” she whispered to herself. “One year, and I’m out.” Her parents were gone—killed in an accident no one could explain—and now she was stuck living with her Aunt Helena, a relative she barely knew.Mahalapye wasn’t where she wanted to be, but it was her only option until she graduated high school. Maybe here, in this sleepy town, she could finally escape the nightmares that haunted her every night. The car sputtered as she pulled into the driveway of a crumbling Victorian house, its windows dark and empty. Aunt Helena hadn’t bothered to greet her, which wasn’t surprising. Their relationship was as distant as the fog surrounding the town. Luna killed the engine and stepped out, her boots crunching against the gravel. The house loomed before her, all creaking wood and peeling paint. She sighed. “Welcome to Mahalapye ,” she muttered. As she grabbed her bag from the trunk, the wind picked up, carrying a chill that seeped into her bones. Luna shivered and turned toward the forest at the edge of the property. That’s when she saw him. A boy stood just beyond the tree line, barely visible through the mist. He had dark hair that tumbled over his forehead and pale skin that almost glowed under the weak moonlight. He wore a black jacket, unzipped, revealing a slim frame beneath. His eyes—bright silver—locked with hers, and Luna’s breath hitched. He wasn’t just looking at her. It felt like he was seeing through her, as if every secret, every piece of her shattered soul, was laid bare before him. Luna took a step back, startled. “Who—?” The boy smirked, a hint of mischief curling his lips, and before she could call out, he vanished into the fog as if he’d never been there. Her heart pounded in her chest. “What the hell?” she whispered. The next morning, Luna dragged herself to Mahalapye High, still unsettled by what she’d seen the night before. Maybe it had been a trick of the mist—her imagination playing games with her already-frayed nerves. She shoved the thought aside and focused on the task at hand: survive one day without drawing attention to herself. But Mahalapye High was the kind of place where everyone noticed a new student. As she walked down the crowded hallway, she could feel the weight of curious stares. She kept her head down, her long dark hair falling like a curtain over her face. Then she bumped into someone. "Sorry," Luna mumbled, looking up—and froze. It was the boy from the forest. His silver eyes met hers, and for a moment, the world seemed to tilt. He was even more striking up close, with sharp cheekbones and a slightly amused expression, as if he’d expected this encounter. “You’re the new girl,” he said, his voice smooth and calm. “Luna, right?” “How do you know my name?” Luna asked, narrowing her eyes. The boy smiled, and it was the kind of smile that suggested he knew far more than he was letting on. “Small town. News travels fast.” “Right…” Luna replied skeptically, feeling the unease from last night creep back in. “And you are?” “Adrian,” he said, offering her a hand. She hesitated before taking it, his touch cool but not unpleasant. “Adrian Night.” Before Luna could ask more, another presence appeared beside Adrian—another boy, slightly taller and with a more intense aura. His black leather jacket and the sharp gleam in his gaze made her feel like she’d wandered into dangerous territory. “Alexander,” the newcomer introduced himself, his voice a low rumble. He didn’t offer his hand, only studied her with an expression that hovered somewhere between curiosity and annoyance. “Nice to meet you?” Luna said, though it felt more like a question. Something about Alexander’s gaze unsettled her, as if he were sizing her up—determining whether she was a threat or prey. “Don’t mind him,” Adrian said, throwing a lazy grin in his brother’s direction. “He’s not good with people.” “Neither are you,” Alexander shot back, though there was no real malice in his tone—just the kind of sharpness that came from familiarity. Luna glanced between the two brothers. They were opposites in every way—Adrian’s easy charm contrasted with Alexander’s guarded intensity—but there was an undeniable connection between them, as if they were bound by something deeper than brotherhood. “So,” Adrian said, tilting his head slightly. “What brings you to Mahalapye?” Luna hesitated. “Just needed a fresh start,” she said, keeping her answer vague. She wasn’t about to spill her entire life story to two boys she’d just met—no matter how strangely captivating they were. Adrian nodded, as if he understood more than she was saying. “Mahalapye has a way of pulling people in,” he said cryptically. “You might find it hard to leave.” “Not planning on staying,” Luna muttered. Alexander’s lips twitched, almost like he found her defiance amusing. “They all say that,” he murmured, his eyes darkening briefly, as if remembering something unpleasant. Before Luna could respond, the bell rang, cutting through the tension. Adrian gave her a quick smile. “See you around, Luna.” Alexander said nothing, but his gaze lingered on her for a moment longer than necessary before he turned and followed his brother down the hall. As they disappeared around the corner, Luna let out a breath she hadn’t realized she’d been holding. There was something about the Night brothers—something dangerous and alluring that made her want to know more, even though every instinct told her to stay away. That night, Luna lay awake in bed, staring at the ceiling as the events of the day played over in her mind. Adrian’s easy charm, Alexander’s unsettling intensity, and the way both of them seemed to know things they shouldn’t—know about her. She glanced toward the window, half-expecting to see silver eyes watching her from the darkness. But there was nothing there—just the quiet hum of the night and the distant whisper of the wind through the trees. Still, she couldn’t shake the feeling that her arrival in Mahalapye had set something in motion—something she didn’t yet understand. And it had everything to do with the Night brothers.
