Chapter 2

1056 Words
The sound of her phone ringing so loudly woke her up, almost causing her to fall off her bed, "son of a bitch." She hissed as she grabbed it to hit on the snooze button, she was out of breath and only sat for a few minute to regulate her breathing as the memory of her near r**e encounter filled her mind. Alice, 25 years old after quitting her job -not quitting per se, she was fired before quitting- had tried looking for an alternate job but all to no avail, she'd gone to every available hiring company but none of them seem to want to hire her unless they had something s****l to do with her. Her curve and blue eyes seem to be the only thing these men noticed, overlooking her intelligence and smartness. She hissed at the thought of her troubles and stood to go have a shower as she had a long day ahead of her, another day to go job hunting and try her ill luck once again. The house was unusually silent and she figured her best friend was not home. Sheila would've woken her up instead of the alarm, she walked over to the dressing mirror to undress. Alice looked at herself in the mirror and wondered how long it took her to finally accept her body, herself. She would occasionally get bullied in high school for the way she wore her hair and how unusually curvy for her age she turned out to be, she smiled as she looked at herself and admired her perky boobs and her hourglass shape. She sighed as she walked into the bathroom to have her bath, "finally some peace and quiet, I can finally...." she started saying as she turned on the shower and turning it back off immediately, she jumped out of the bathroom, "Ohh, hell f*****g No!" She yelled, "how's it so f*****g cold?" She hissed as she turned the shower back on and this time she made sure her feet got under it first, then the rest of her body. She finally relaxed and soon she was done with her bath, she walked out of the bathroom to the kitchen to make herself a bowl of cereal before going online to job hunt as that was what she does these days if she's not driving around the city. "Let's get hired." She smiled as she opened up her laptop in front of her and went on LinkedIn, her favorite site. After minutes of scrolling up and down with no luck, she finally gave up. "Ugh." She groaned in frustration and placed her head on the table, the sound of her phone ringing stopped her thoughts and when she looked at the caller ID it was her best friend and roommate, Sheila. "Girl, where the hell are you?" She groaned. "What can you do without me?" Sheila said, feigning wonder. "Oh, Shut up please," she rolled her eyes as she placed her head back on the table, causing a thudding sound, "I'm tired." She moaned. "What's the matter?" Sheila asked, "you know I have a business to run and quite frankly, I didn't expect to be out of the house today, but the demands are crazy and I had to go. Are you Okay?" She added and Alice pouted like her best friend could see her. "You're doing the thing." Sheila pointed out. "What... what thing?" Alice asked, she knew what Sheila was referring to. "That thing with your mouth." "No, I'm not." She protested. "Yes, yes you are, I know you are." "Fine, you caught me." She finally admitted. "Take it easy on yourself, Alice. You know, you really shouldn't bother yourself with searching for a job anymore." Sheila said and Alice could sense a hint of happiness in her voice. "How do you mean?" She asked. "So, why I called. I bring good news." Sheila announced as she shrieked. "Whatever this is better be something worth it and extremely good." Alice said, knowing how mischievous and full of pranks her friend was, Alice would lose it if Sheila was trying to prank her again. "Oh, it is." Sheila replied and Alice closed her laptop, adjusting herself in her seat so she could give proper attention to Sheila. "Okay then, spill." She said. "No, not on the phone, you have to come down here and that way we'll talk properly." Sheila answered. "I didn't see myself leaving the house today." She groaned and Sheila knowing the curiosity level of her best friend added. "Well then you'll have to wait till I'm back." Sheila said. "No way, wait till you're back? I'm coming." She answered and hung up immediately, she grabbed her car keys and stormed out of the building. Alice packed properly and got down to walk towards her friend. Alice's eyes weren't on the road as she was rummaging through her bag in search of her phone, she bumped into someone and her bag fell off her hand. "Watch where you're going, asshole," She snarled as she bent to pick up her stuff, "couldn't even say sorry." She hissed. "Now, why would I say sorry when you're the one who bumped into me?" A deep voice answered and she lifted her gaze and squinted to see a man standing in front of her, the sun made his blonde hair shine even brighter. "If your eyes were where you're going then you would've avoided me bumping into you." She said through gritted teeth as she stood up and taking in his appearance, she couldn't deny the fact that this man was very handsome. "I would love to chitchat but I hate wasting my time on irrelevant things." He said as he brushed past her and got into his car, leaving Alice speechless. "What the f*****g hell?" She hissed as she followed the zoom of his car, "who the f**k does he think he is?" She muttered to herself and turned to see Sheila already stood behind her. "s**t. You startled me." She breathed, holding her chest. Sheila's eyes widened as she saw the figure that got in the car and pointing to the car she gasped, "th....that's... Eva.." She stuttered. "What are you trying to say?" Alice asked in confusion. "Sterling." Sheila finally said with her eyes still wide.
