"Do you actually think you could hide from me, sweetheart?" The familiar male voice said from over the phone and Alice's heart dropped down to her stomach in fear, he's back. She looked around to be sure no one was around as she silently and hurriedly made her way back to the bathroom. "W..what d.. do.. you want from me?" She stuttered as her palm went cold and sweaty and her phone almost fell from her hand. "You know damn well what I'm calling you for?" He said with a wicked laugh that got Alice even scared the more, "you can run, darling, but you sure as hell cannot hide from me." He added. "What is it exactly that you want?" Alice yelled almost tearing up as her fear was consuming her, for a moment she wished she actually killed him that day at the office. She stood frozen as she let the memory play out in her head, she should have killed this son of a b***h that calls himself her boss. ********** Alice's life flashed right in front of her eyes as she was already seeing herself in jail and also imagining what her mugshot would look like. "b***h!" Her boss yelled, bringing her back to the present, she let out a sigh of relief when she saw he was fine, she looked up to see her boss angrier than she'd ever seen him, "I'm gonna make you pay." He added, placing his palm on his forehead as he winced in pain again. "You're fired!" He yelled and like Alice was expecting that, she let out a slight smirk. "Funny," she let out, masking her fear beneath the shadow of her fake bravado, "because I quit." She finished and walked out before he could say a word. ******* And that was how she'd lost her job in hopes that she would never have to see him or get involved with him again, her thought was cut short when his voice came again. "I want you here, that's what I want," He started saying, "I own you, every damn part of you and I'm not done with you until I tell you I'm done with you." He threatened and sweat started forming on her forehead, she was really scared now. She's spent almost seven years with this man and there was one thing she knew about him, he doesn't bluff, whatever he wants, he'll get. "Sheila Williams, 26 years old and a food enthusiast," he continued and in shock, Alice lifted her face and swallowed hard, "I know where you are, Alice. I know how to get you. Don't test me, get back here and let's restart," He added, "also, do not even think or make an attempt to inform the police because if you do, I can assure you that things would get ugly real quick and you wouldn't like the result." He finished and before she could say another word he hung up, Alice opened her mouth but words failed her, her vocal cords felt like it was cut already and her ability to speak seek to have left her. Alice speechless as her fear showed boldly on her face released a tear and as a result of her weak knees she almost collapsed as she hit her back against the hard door, she fumbled with her phone and went through the contact in search of Sheila's number, she dialed it and when she was supposed to speak, words failed her and she sobbed. "What's the matter?" Sheila asked concerned. "I... it.. it was... my boss from my previous job, he called me." Alice stuttered as she tried to explain between sobs and after a while of silence, Sheila finally spoke. "What did he say?" She probed as she tried to conceal her fear beneath a ghostly courage. "He wants me back, he threatened me and said he knew where I was. He knows everything about us." She cried as she buried her face in her other palm. "It's okay, calm down," Sheila tried to console her friend who was already crying uncontrollably on the phone, she was scared herself but she knew that for her to be able to console Alice, she needs to be brave, "we'll just inform the police, get a restraining order against him or something, it'll be fine." She finished and like Alice had just realized something, she immediately lifted her face from her palm. "No." She protested silently, looking around and sure no one was around she added, "we can't do that." "No? No? What the hell do you mean we can't do that?" Sheila asked and another tear escaped Alice's eyes. "He threatened to do something terrible if we inform the police, he's watching us, Sheila," she tried her best to explain, "we're in danger and the only way to avert it is to get back to working with him." She finished with a sniff. "Ohh," Sheila let out helplessly, "what are we gonna do now?" She asked. "I don't know, I really don't know," Alice answered as she stood up and ran her free hand through her hair in frustration and anger, "I guess I'd have to go back there." She added and Sheila almost screamed. "You're not going back to working with that monster, you're doing anything else except that, you can't possibly get back there." Sheila rambled on in fear and Alice only shook her head like her friend could see her. "If I'm going to stop this danger, I'll have no other choice but to get back there, Sheila. I don't know what to do." She sobbed silently as she paced around the bathroom and covered her mouth with her hand and before Sheila could say another word, she hung up. Banging at the door in frustration, Alice almost threw her phone away but not letting her anger take over her, she threw the phone in her bag. Alice scampered our of the bathroom in fear and eyes and mind weren't in one place she bumped into someone, she looked up to see Evan Sterling hovering above her. "It you," he said, "I see you just bump into anyone," he added, "is this how you go around clumsily bumping into everything and everyone?" He added mocking her and just then Alice lost it.
