Chapter 8: Reunion

Now I understood why he was so on edge at first. The mate bond brings your beast forward, but it can be concerning when your mate isn't a wolf, because their scent isn't quite the expected. My daggers disappeared, but not before Raven saw. She smiled warmly at me before whispering in Thomas's ear. Thomas shook his head before stepping back to set her down. He kept his hands around her waist, and looked down. I could hear him tell her …"now I have you back, I’m not sure I can let you go." She pushed her way away from him before walking up to me, and wrapping me in a bear hug. "I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to cause alarm, I just couldn’t stand being away from you two anymore and I can’t lie to you anymore."  “So you knew you were his mate?” “Not exactly.” Raven rubbed the back of her neck, a telltale sign she was nervous. “Witches have a dream when we turn eighteen. If we’ve already been in contact with our partner, we see them. When it was my birthday earlier this week, I saw Thomas. I know he was only waiting for his mate but because I wasn’t of age we couldn’t sense one another. We don’t get mates until we’re able to come into our full power.” I squealed and hugged her again before Thomas sheepishly laughed. “Cel I know you miss her but I’m holding myself back by a thread here…” He got a dark expression on his face as he looked into Raven’s eyes. I’d rather not witness them finally being together.  “Alright guys, go get behind closed doors. And Thomas I swear if you hurt her I’ll figure out a way to kick your ass.  “I could never hurt her, she’s my everything.” I rolled my eyes, “Whatever, lovebirds.” Long as my best friend came back in one piece that’s all I cared about, but I was happy for them.
