Chapter 4: Something in the Water

614 Words
Celeste POV I couldn't help but giggle at the thought of flying through the trees. The first time I got to meet Máni we instantly got along. Thomas says our personalities are so much alike that if I had a wolf it should have been Máni. Probably why he also rarely says no when I ask to go for a run. I turned away to give him privacy as he undressed. I could hear his bones start to shift and crack. Soon I saw white fluff peer just past my shoulder. I turned to see the large white mass of fur I loved. "Good Morning Máni!" I stretched onto my toes to lean against his chest and wrap my arms as best as I could around him. He tilted his head and huffed out a breath against my shoulder blade, before dropping a pair of shorts for Thomas in my hands.  He says good morning too. We should take the south trail today. Thea chirped.  "I know Tommy said we could go on a quick run, can we go on the south trail today?" Máni slowly waved his head and then lowered it.  He says it's packed with people coming to and from preparing for the visit. I just have a bad feeling about the north entrance today.  Maybe it's just our nerves with all that's going on Thea, besides there's plenty of guards, we'll be fine.  I can't shake the feeling Celeste, things will change. Soon.  Change can be a good thing though right? Máni's POV The sun felt amazing as we pounded our paws into the ground. I could feel Thomas's anxiety spike once he decided to talk to Cel, but we'd cross that bridge soon.  Máni, do you think I'm doing the right thing?  Of course. She's your sister. That won't change. Hell if it works out the way I feel it will she may be thrilled to get a new sister. What if she feels I’m stealing her away though.  I doubt that, you have stayed close to her since she came into the world. She’ll be happy for you.  I hope she sees it the same way you do, otherwise I don’t know if I can handle her hating me, let alone if my mate rejects me.  The trees soon opened to the small lake near the outskirts of the pack border. I looked up to the sky, letting the sun warm my fur.  "Máni you really are starting to smell, did you step in something?" Celeste teased.  I knew exactly what she was doing, but it was fun to have my own ways to tease her back with the inability to mindlink her. I stood still as I could, growled lowly, and as she took the bait and leaned forward in concern, I crouched down. Before she could ask, I leapt as far as I could and stretched my legs out in an attempt to make as big of a splash as I could.  Oh come on man, she's holding the shorts I have to change into! Sorry, but you would've done the same. You were thinking the same damn thing I just did.  Thomas began cackling in our head at the sight before him. Celeste rose out of the water looking like the scary movie they watched last weekend. Something about a creepy girl in a well. The water plastered her deep brown hair to her face, making it look much darker. I paddled my way to her and carried her to the bank before grabbing the shorts for Thomas to take over. It was going to be an interesting afternoon.
