I managed to purchase the shirt and a few other necessities without Vanessa intervening. I just set the bags on my bed, and began to organize them in the dress and closet. As I finished up, I noticed whispers behind my closed bedroom door. I tried to act normal and calm, laid down on the bed, and willed Thea's abilities to come forward. I ignored the soft hum of people and nature outside my open window, and focused on the voices. I could immediately recognize them as Kane and Vanessa.
"Did she get everything she needed? Did you do what I asked?" Kane hissed.
"I tried to, but that girl is about as stubborn as you are." She quipped back. I could sense irritation in Kane's pheromones, but he quickly calmed them.
