Chapter 7

Rex

I walked down the stairs, filling my cup of water and rushed outside taking some deep breaths of the night air. Of course I would be an ass and promise her on the first night that I wouldn't touch her and break it. Almost let her break it on a way bigger level knowing all the crazy changes in her body and all the emotions plus the side effects of the change make it impossible for her to think clearly right now. That's why I can't be normal around her constantly saying and doing ridiculously awkward things. I realized immediately she was too sweet and soft for this world, let alone the vampire world, I didn't want to mess up and make her hate me immediately and I had a good feeling my usual self would do that immediately. I took another deep breath and walked inside turning up the thermostat and grabbing a blanket and Ren a cup of water looking at the time on the clock seeing it was five AM. As I carried the stuff up to Ren I decided I could just stay up, get an early workout in, make some breakfast and check in with Frank about the details of today. I did not trust myself to keep my promise if I climbed back in that bed with her this morning. I walked into the room to see Ren drifted back to sleep though I did see her body still slightly shivering way less than when we woke up though I tucked a couple more blankets around her and sat her water on the nightstand grabbing my phone off of it I walked back downstairs.

Starting breakfast I scrambling some eggs considering that's the only kind I could make and grabbed the blender I added strawberries and raspberries, juice and caffeine powder pouring them in to four water bottles I added half a pack of blood to each of the girls bottles and stuck them in the refrigerator I added a quarter of a pack to both mine and tazz's cups which was almost double what we usually drank but Ren had awakened my emotions that I have ignored and shoved down for years until I was numb of all of them but being a vampire with the good emotions also comes the bad and I really felt the hunger this morning although I might be more hungry for what Ren has to offer I knew a strong blood dose would take my mind off it. We also needed to hunt for ferals today and while I am not sure what's going on I know it's more than the usual rule breaker biting and fleeing without following the rules. It almost seems organized and we need to be at our strongest to make sure we aren't caught off guard. I picked up my phone seeing a message from Frank that he assembled a small team and that I could meet them this morning after everything with the girls. I sat my phone down just as tazz was walking down the stairs I held out his drink which he took as I chugged mine, tazz took one sip widening his eyes at me I shrugged we need to be strong we don't know what to expect with what is going on, and you can't tell me you aren't starving. Actually tazz mumbled I feel more sated than I have in a long time even better than when I change and get the feed and the emotions tazz said I think you may be hungry for something more than you think but we are forever starving and I agree that we need to be strong so I will not go on about it.

I nodded well I'm gonna get a workout in care to join tazz nodded walking outside tazz headed towards the wood line going to the trails in a blur faster than I've seen in awhile I immediately ran with all I had trying to overtake him and keeping it about even for almost a full two laps but then I saw Ren standing on the porch speaking to Melony and lost focus I trailed a little off the path tazz followed sticking his foot out making me fly through the air and into a tree and at the speed I was going the whole tree ripped out of the ground on impact and me and the tree flew right into the lake.

What a d**k I grouched as I popped out of the water, tazz was laughing hysterically and Ren was looking terrified. Are you going to help she shouted at tazz who laughed harder. I'm fine. I assured her climbing out of the lake and walking towards her. Really she asked, sounding like she could not possibly believe me less. I nodded absolutely I said now let's go get you guys some breakfast I said as I reached her I grabbed her hand pulling her to follow me to the kitchen I grabbed a plate loading it full of eggs and then the drink out of the fridge I sat them in front of her at the table before setting across from her. So after you lady's finish eating everyone has to go get dressed so we can be on our way to the VCA lots of big steps ahead of us today. Ren nodded shoveling the last scoop of eggs into her mouth and then beginning on her drink Melony was also almost done okay while you guys finish I'm going to go get ready I said walking upstairs, I found some loose black jogging pants and a fitted white t shirt I carried them to the bathroom in case Ren came in because I still don't trust myself to react responsibly if she comes in giving me the look I seen on her face this morning while working out.

I got dressed brushed my teeth lightly styled my hair so it looked just a little bit messy and sprayed on my favorite sandal wood cologne I walked back into the room, just in time to see Ren bent over in a white t shirt and a pink thong putting her foot into a pair of dark blue jeans with rips in both the front and back that I grabbed for her yesterday. I stood there staring as she looked up at me, mouth slightly parted in shock and face heating. I tried my best not to imagine how that expression would look if she was on her knees with my c**k in her face. Fuckk I growled out loud making her jump. I barged out the door stomping down the stairs fighting all of my instincts to run back up and show her what I really want to do. I stepped into the kitchen mixing a drink and stepped outside with it. How did I not hear her changing? I have super hearing. Maybe I did subconsciously and just wanted a peak but at the same time I didn't because I have been on edge all morning and that definitely didn't help. Just then everyone walked out. Are we taking my car or running tazz asked. While Ren and melony hung back Ren looking more than embarrassed f**k she is going to hate me when I'm trying to keep her from hating me. We can run, I answered tazz ripping my eyes away from Ren before I made it even worse. I was hoping the run would ease the tension but we were at the gate to the VCA and I was feeling just the same as I had all morning. I was also starving again. I hadn't felt hunger like this in a long time. We entered the doors and everything got quiet. That is my favorite thing about this building. Usually I have trouble turning off all of the extra sounds because of my need to focus on all of my surroundings and anything or anyone that may be coming. I'm not exactly liked being a person who hunts ferals and criminals who do not follow the laws. They built these walls specially after years of research and lots of moles spreading information that shouldn't have been out. They finally found a way to vamp proof the walls in this building. You can only hear what's going on in the room you're in. They definitely still have a mole problem though not enough screening before they put anyone on a secret project and that to the fact it's almost impossible to find out who you can trust in the vampire world until you find out the hard way. Rex Ren said snapping me out of my thoughts, I looked up to see Frank staring at me with an incredulous look where is your head at boy he grouched you are always on top of it and have super hearing how did you not hear me yelling your name, I shrugged well I'm listening now let's get this show on the road.
