Chapter 21: Finding materials

891 Words
The science back in the earth truly advanced the civilization on the higher threshold allowing humans to stand at the peak of the food chain, they became the apex who are at the greater ground of luxurious life. As the world advances into the technological age, people who inhabit the world needed power sources more often. Humans can no longer live without electricity, otherwise, they cannot do their work since most of the technologies in Arion's timeline were energy reliant. From using thermal, radiant, chemical, nuclear motion energy, and much more numerous methods of extracting power, civilization progressed for the greater good. Back in the 12th century, an Indian mathematician claimed he can make a wheel run for eternity. It was the first-ever invention that utilizes perpetual motion; as the name suggests, the wheel could be set in an infinite loop of motion, and this method could also create motion energy as the power extracted will be ceaseless; with no energy needed during the entire process. However, Arion is aware this is impossible and those who have tried re-creating perpetual motion all failed with a grayscale rainbow. This concept was set in stone because of the second law of thermodynamics stating the conservation of energy; describing no more power could be produced for the exerted energy and the conversion of heat is unlikely. Then the questions arose when the fact he invented the machine that has the ability to replicate the idea and concept of the perpetual motion into a much more realistic threshold. When the other countries heard he did such a thing, no one believed him and thought he went insane. But it all changed when he presented the entire blueprint of how is it done and how can it actually work out not just theoretically but also practically in motion. He uploaded the entire top-secret information of the perpetual motion project he's been working on just so he could prove his point. The problem is that no one could do it since it needed a special invention which Arion only had. Once again, he outsmarted the geniuses and outwitted those who desired his inventions for a different purpose involving corruption. "I only need three materials. Based on the things inside your workshop Adriel, I assume the kingdom has prospered above a level where they can rely on energy effectively." Arion wasn't flexing his knowledge and rather he doesn't want to make things complicated. "Ugh... what materials do you need? I'm following your plan for now since you piqued my interest, especially your own magic armament." Adriel touched the cold carapace on his chest, the space gap in between the ribs of defensive bones cannot fit her fingers. "Ah... why are you touching my body?" Arion mentioned. An unusual awkward feeling swelled within, Adriel got too absorbed on the armament itself and didn't notice she was already lifting his sweater. "S-Sorry!" Apologizing won't do anything when she had already done it. "Either way, are you alright Lilith? Is there something you wanted or anything? If you feel being oppressed under me, just tell me so." Arion crouched a little bit like he was taking care of a child. In reality, he couldn't express how adorable she was that an elf herself who's timid and shy depicts those characters in a role-playing game, he thought to himself. "I-I'm okay, nothing is bothering me. I shall follow my master wherever he goes." Lilith's all fidgety, her ears were sticking out restlessly. Aware she's not really fine, he'll make sure to address her situation when it comes to it. For now, he'd focus on understanding the world he currently lives in, as well as the topography of the entire Althas Kingdom and the neighboring nations that should be recorded. "I assume magic armaments are weapons powered purely by magic. The first thing I need is a thing that can store mana, the second is a tool which can extract the mana and finally, a device where the mana can be stored efficiently." Arion demanded as he counts his fingers. Thinking back for a minute, Adriel began searching her belongings. She grabbed a small object below the shelf and pulled a cylindrical tube attached to her waist belt. "This small orb is called the Eye of Moonlight, a rare jewel which can emit mana, and this cylinder tube is one of my tools for blending mana so I can get a sample of the magic signature." Adriel gave the two main things he required. "Woah. How convenient!" He exclaimed. A message of the same interface suddenly appeared from his line of sight. [ Items Acquired ] - Eye of Moonlight - Magic Signature Stamper "I'm not sure if its the actual item you needed, but the last one is something we can get on a quest as a reward," Adriel advised. "What is it called?" Arion asked sedulously. "It is the Orb of Geyser. This magic item can steal the magic of the surrounding and store it within." She explained. The enthusiastic spirit blended in his body, he was so fired up he felt he can do anything. Marget was there witnessing what he could do despite the inability to use magic. "Then what else we'll do? Let us accept this quest right away!" Arion declared. Rushing from excitement, he dragged everyone out of Adriel's workshop, ready to start the first quest he'll undertake in order to re-create his invention back on earth that can utilize the concept of perpetual motion.
