Chapter 20: Ignited

993 Words
The genius inventor who strongly advocates science and believes he can change the world as a whole if he can understand every concept and mysteries hidden behind it. A dormant excitement ignited within his heart and mind the moment he learned that elemental magic truly exists. Just imagining the idea of having the ability to control various kinds of spells was enough to make him pass out. "Go down there and everything underground is my workshop. I tend to create magic tools or weapons and I also liked conceiving various types of potions." Adriel affirmed. Alchemy is the medieval form of chemistry back in the earth and the ancient branch of natural philosophy originating in ancient Egypt. These alchemists follow the magical process of conversion, creation, or combination of various elements under the goal of obtaining the drink called "Immortality Elixir" and as the name suggests, gives anyone eternal life. But they ended up inadvertently inventing the gunpowder, giving up on achieving the Elixir of Immortality. "Wait, magic tools?!" Arion was already going down stepping the rung when he ascended once again as he stuck out his head upon hearing about tools as such. "Just go down!" She got annoyed pushing his shoulder below causing her to lose hold of the ladder. He went straight on the floor and fell with a thud. "Hm... why I can't see a thing?" He was probing in the dark. There's nothing he could see not until she touched a very familiar soft cushion. "Oh, did my auto-lit torches broke? I guess it is." Adriel inarticulately sighed deeply before she flickered her fingers. The torches placed on the underground chamber's corner walls magically lit up. Now, Arion found himself touching Lilith's chest while her cheeks were beet-red. He almost got embarrassed and lost composure so what he did was meticulously remove his hands away from his left bosom. Marget and Adriel just arrived below and witnessed him bowing down constantly in front of her, he's preventing himself from breathing in an attempt to restrict his emotion. "Anyways, this workshop is quite amazing in different aspects," Arion remarked, mesmerized by the fact workshop chamber looks it was small on the outside, and in the outside, it has enough space perfect when inventing stuff. The 5 layer shelves on the right side were packed with potion jar and bottles containing several colors of liquid substances as each of the receptacle has also different thicknesses of cork for some reason. Aside from the neat blueprints of tools above the medieval desk attached on the walls through the right side corner, the lower left side was where a huge witch pot was placed in it, an iron anvil for ironing, and some familiar tools he can recognize and some that he had only seen for the first time like the pickaxe which has triangular blades and edges and several more. There were also some ready-made swords, blades, staff, stave, and shield above the wooden wall shelves. They were quite sturdy and aren't something you can get on a standard blacksmith, he thought to himself. "Perfect... this place is perfect for my inventions!" Arion covered half of his face with his right hand while laughing hysterically, which must be one of his uncontrollable inclinations. "Are you a blacksmith or something? If you were, you can just buy materials since we're lacking one." Adriel suggested. He was just standing as he waves his hands in front of him. In his perspective, he's really searching for more information regarding the icon tree that he has seen when he first utilized the unknown system for the first time after he got his first-ever armament. Swiping through the air reveals the icon of the Mechanical Exoskeleton mixed with the emblem clockwork in the midsection. There were at least another six unveiled question marks around and the nodes also extend up to six levels of different branches. These blind uncovered icons were probably the possible armaments or inventions he hasn't unlocked yet. Arion even tried clicking them while he looks like a sane person outside, though only the first six circles around were the nodes he can check around, which some flavor text regarding the materials needed for the specific node. "Hm... what are you doing?" Adriel frowned. "Ah, well, nothing." He swiped everything downwards and the system interface disappeared from his line of sight. Slipping out and forgetting others can't see what he was doing, Marget dragged him on a corner and whispered to him, "If you are actually trying to hide the fact you were reincarnated in this world, you should do better." "Okay." He simply nodded. What he heard was a threat from the tone of her voice rather than a piece of advice. It's just he can feel the voice of death on her even though she's a lady in flesh. Although she makes sense since deity had no concept of gender and rather they were the manifestation of those who believe. "So what are we going to do now?" Adriel asked him. "What else we shall do? Of course, I will create a thing that the system won't even expect. I will not follow a laid out path the Goddess or a Grim Reaper prepared for me!" Arion asserted. His tongue slipped once again and Marget just kind of facepalmed in a deep sigh. Both Adriel and Lilith who's silent had no idea what he was talking about. "What will you create then?" Adriel was curious. "If this world has the concept of mana... then creating perpetual motion or the so-called infinite power should be easy as baking a morning bread." Arion declared. "What?" They all tilted their head except for Marget who can't believe what's he planning. "No way... I know he's a prodigy and somehow did it back in the earth, but there's no way he can create such a thing here." She doubts his ability. The shadow her doubts casts was the light Arion bears. The determination he'd bring for making the fantasy into reality ignited his will to seek out why he was reincarnated in the first place.
