Chapter 37: Tears of the Goddess

1131 Words
The great inventor has now ascended from Adriel's alchemist workshop after three entire days without break, eating, drinking anything, or what. Truth to be revealed, he actually goes out to when the call of nature comes. But the dedication and determination Arion accumulated after his defeat has enabled him to see be optimistic rather than taking everything for granted. The fact that he doesn't have magic actually nows troubles his mind, he now understands the feelings of those who are not born with any latent abilities. Standing in front of them is no longer the creator who thinks rashly so he could fill his hunger in knowledge, after all, they say curiosity kills the cat so he should be cautious after learning his lesson. "This... is me." Arion presented himself. Yuna, Adriel, Lilith, even Marget, and Sarra were in awe upon seeing his unusual get-up. He removed the sleeves of his polka-dotted sweater now it became a shirt, although what captivated their eyes is the mechanical arms he had that can freely move just like a real one. Simply put, he copied the left arm he had and forged his own right arm. The Mechanical Exoskeleton itself is a work of mystery for Adriel, but she was more baffled upon seeing coiling chains on his right hand. But his arsenal doesn't end there when Arion jerked his left arm and a crossbow appeared in the midsection of the internal frame beneath the outer carapace, attached to his outer armor. It's a complex creation that she had never seen before. At the same time, Lilith couldn't get her vision out of his eyes gleaming with sapphire stone. "Installing the Infinite Core on my missing right eye was a good idea. This allows me to absorb neighboring mages mana at a higher rate just by gazing at them." Arion tries to explain his inventions as normally as possible so they won't be confused. Excited to learn from him, Adriel who had not touched her workshop for three days felt like it was years for her. She jumped in surprise and probing Arion of his entire body, wondering how could he modified the things that were on her workshop transfiguring them to attachable armaments he created. "Such arms with complex design, a crossbow that uses mana as medium and these extendible chains... I get it! You're also an alchemist like me right?!" Adriel got so excited and held his hands so tightly. "Teach me of the proper way!" "Hey!" Yuna pulled her away from him. "Don't touch him too close for more than seconds." She was kinda jealous when she's touching him as she pleases. "Hah? Do you have a problem with that? She owns me and that means I have the right. And who are you anyway? You might have helped us, but since you came here, you never introduced yourself!" Adriel pointed her index finger at her. Yuna's grimace was evident she's guilty of not telling anything about her. Simply put, she only chooses those who are worthy of calling her true name since she makes a living as an assassin even when she was a child. The party master, Marget facepalmed from their constant bickering over trivial matters. In order to lessen the tension between them, Arion put his arm over her shoulders and confessed to them. "Sorry for not telling you guys, but she's Yuna Belle, my sister whom I loved dearly." "WHAT?!" Yuna's voice reached its peak. To clear things out, he dragged her at the corner and whispered to her. "What? Do you want to tell them we reincarnated and you're my girlfriend who murdered me so we had no choice but to live in this magical world? Let's just go with the sister-brother relationship for now." "That sucks, I mean, not sister..." Yuna had no choice so she accepted it nonetheless. "And why are you showing your affection towards me through your real persona? Just so you know my love for you is genuine, but I don't think that was the case for you." Arion stretched her back and that utterly cleared any kind of misunderstanding. It was true Arion is the smartest and wisest human who existed on earth, standing at the apex of the mortal world, though Yuna thinks he's as dense as his compact brain; he can't recognize human feelings and he doesn't even realize Lilith and Adriel's affection. "I do believe girls are hard to understand... so does prodigy inventors," Yuna mumbled. "Did you say something?" Arion definitely heard it. "Nothing!" Yuna performed some strange ninjutsu gestures and she disappeared in thin air. She teleported in the chair next to a table and an open window to refresh her mind, above all, no one other than herself is glad that he hasn't changed even a bit. Adriel went near her so she could apologize for her impudence. "As the dryad of the Moonlight Forest, I'm very sorry Yuna, for jumping to conclusions. I hope Arion's sister would forgive me." Even if she's full of pride and haughty at times, she had no choice but to also be involved with Yuna since she's thinking they were family. Now she felt bad they had to fake their origin through lies and at the same time, it was the best course of action. "Also... thanks for saving us back then! Had not you interfere, maybe everyone..." Lilith was glad she couldn't stop her tears. "Ahh... it's fine! No need to cry..." Yuna is very skilled when it comes to negotiating with adults to get what she wanted. The only problem with that is it backfires on her ability to interact with those who are the same age as her or below. In fact, when a child is crying, she had no idea what to do to a degree that she will panic. Arion would never let the sadness retains in her scarred heart so he patted her and declared. "I don't want to be like those repetitive characters from novels I read, but I promise I shall avenge you, and your companions. I will become strong even if I don't have magic." His companions agree he had the ability to become stronger than anyone even though he can't control mana; the basis of magic and spells. "Good. I almost forgot to tell you the Supreme Magister and his party asked to be his guest. Prepare yourself, we shall depart right away." Marget then proceeded to finish her cup of tea before she left. The way Arion handles things and his inner compassion towards his companions a trait that Marget looked up to him. "After sending my chosen to their demise... I thank you for making my wish come true..." She weeps the tears of the Goddess of Sun and Moon, forming in a crystalization of her truest feelings. She was exhilarated to see them alive after facing the ordeal that should end their life, yet they persevered.
