Chapter 24: The Ordeal

966 Words
The bright wonderful morning sun was what greeted him after waking up, thankfully Adriel had a very luxurious bath that Arion felt like he was still on planet earth. Their showers were quite unusual considering the rain of droplets coming from a small orb infused with magic, somewhat called a magic tool as Marget described. A change of home familiarized himself with a new lifestyle, Arion was quite amazed when he discovered the Mechanical Exoskeleton surrounding his entire body can be retracted by j*********f his arms, flipping the switch, and then the metallic alloys of carapaces will be absorbed on the glass clockwork attached into the midsection of his sternum. "Phew, just what is this thing? Is this supposed to be my armament? The design of this implant external armor of mine is so ugly, I can invent much better than this." Arion tapped the clockwork heart two times, he wrapped a towel around his waist before he decided to get out of the shower room. The moment he was getting out of the dressing room, Adriel opened up the front door and got surprised upon seeing Arion's upper naked body. Instead of getting embarrassed, she glimpses at the core within his chest and couldn't believe what she just noticed. As an alchemist who always loved crafting magic tools and brewing chemical potions, she jumped out of her way and pulled his shoulders closer, they were both wearing a white linen towel covering their body. "Hey... is this the legendary Mechanical Exoskeleton?! Just where did you get this thing?" She's restlessly touching Arion's chest, amazed at seeing such a thing in her life. "What? You know this thing?" He also tapped the glass of the implanted clockwork heart. "Every aspiring alchemist knows this! It is said that a group of alchemists worked together inventing the Mechanical Exoskeleton and managed to create at least four copies, although three of them weren't as strong as the original." Adriel's probing his chest left and right up to his collar bone. "It's design sucks for sure but comes handy in different situations, like when I swiftly defeated you." Arion's kind of flexing this time. After appraising it for a minute, Adriel's face was replaced with a disappointed countenance upon noticing the dents within its lower casement. "Ah. Your version of Mechanical Exoskeleton is one of the fake replicas. Unfortunately, it got my high-hopes anti-climatic." She pushed him aside and left him to his own devices, closing the door to the shower room and taking off the towel hanging it on a horizontal metal wooden pole. "Welp doesn't matter anymore. Sooner or later I'll just gonna perform reverse engineering on this thing and replicate a much better version with attachable armaments. For now, I must focus on re-creating my perpetual motion-based energy capacitor." Arion spoke some nerd stuff before closing the dressing room. The second he got out of the room, Adriel behind the see-through curtains panted like there's no tomorrow. Her hopes truly got high when she discovered Arion had a Mechanical Exoskeleton and it turns out it was just a replica and it's not as powerful as the original. But still, what Adriel made her cheeks turn pure red was the fact she was so absorbed in the actual armament she almost forgot that she's touching his entire built body. The brevity and firmness of his muscle were compact while maintaining the look of a normal figure was so stimulating even for the Jade Princess. Even if he's a prodigy inventor who looks like the person who'd be stuck in his laboratory, he's doing some healthy cardiovascular and anaerobic exercises to balance his overall being. The fact that her title and haughty behavior prevents any men from getting near her; now that a fine specimen was near her side, she was able to visualize attraction towards the opposite gender. "He seems to be a bookworm outside, but on a different surface, he's kinda hot..." Adriel's covering her face in uneasiness. She emerged herself in the tub trying to disremember his manly temptation. "Arrghh!" She moaned so loudly in distress. Still, she kind of moved on while she's in the tub. Not long before everyone was ready, packing up their items and other important things needed for the quest they will accept. Arion was wearing the exact same polka-dotted sweater and jeans despite the current warm weather. He still couldn't consider there was a magic tool used to absorb the remaining water out of a dampened garment, a dryer re-invented in a magical kingdom. That's why it was easy for him to wash it efficiently and re-use his get-up. In a sense, it's more likely the civilization in this world is quite more advance than the earth. Meaning, they're advance not technologically but magically as they are incorporating the abundance of mana on their surrounding, which made him pretty astounded by it since there's more room to learn. "Alright! Let's get out of here as soon as possible." Arion dragged Lilith and Adriel at the same time. He had hidden the quest parchment needed to be signed for the approval of the Guildhall before they could depart. Thankfully Sarra took care of the other boring stuff so they can start the mission early. "Yeah..." Lilith doesn't have any spirit as always. "Why do I have to get pulled around?!" Adriel's complaining yet she doesn't resist. Their party is complete and is ready for the next quest, Sarra was left behind the house since she's the secretary. Marget was there watching not as the party master and rather as one of the four Goddesses. "This is the first Ordeal you must conquer Arion... I hope you can succeed, or else it'll be too late." The Goddess of Sun and Moon was afraid of the crisis that is about to come. However, whatever it could be, Arion will carve a path towards the goal he must achieve.
