Chapter 4: Name is hidden

946 Words
The pattering raindrops on Arion's faces wake him up from the mild concussion he received exactly 4 minutes and 25 seconds before. Impossible as it should be, his brain's clock speed has enabled him to exactly remember what happens in his physical body before it gets knocked down. "Ahh... where is this...?" He glances at the surroundings. A subtle melancholy of vast forest was what greeted his first visions in the new world where he'll live in. The crowns of the trees dance at the pace of the cold tone of the rain, probing the surrounding and checking the muddy water beside him where the sedges grow tall, hearing the chirping birds over the branches. A true scene of nature, the silent voice of the wind, gentle touch of the earth, everything he's feeling right now is as surreal as the reality he never forgot. "What's this heavy thing that weights precisely 39.5 kilograms?" Arion's calculation is impeccable as he began probing the thing above his chest. Two cushions of soft and have the characteristics of a flat board, its round smooth touch accompanied by the wetness of the rain seems to be an enjoyment for him. "This feeling... it must be heaven. I reincarnated in heaven!" Taking a closer looked, Arion fully opened his eyes in a jerk. Unknowing if it's true, he saw himself groping the girl who killed him in his previous life; it was none other than his girlfriend when he was still alive on earth. She moved her fingers when she was about to wake up so Arion retracted her hands before she gets caught red-handed. As soon as she realized over the fact she got reincarnated with her lover whom she killed, things went in a downhill. "No... no way... this can't be real..." Her expression resembles someone who lost all hope, crawling away from the lover she killed during her previous life. As for Arion, he didn't witness the expression he was expecting, but he found her face to be priceless. "Hi. I'm Arion. Tell me how did you die." He was being sarcastic by speaking in a highlighted period. Perhaps she was wondering how the odds just turned against her. "When I escaped your house after my assassination mission, I was hit by a truck pretty hard." Not being harsh on her presence, Arion couldn't help but puff his cheeks preventing himself from laughing so hard. After a proper inhale and exhale, he was able to compose his expression, although she was already pouting from his rudeness. "I'm sorry. Azrael failed to kill me in that way so I should be glad dying peacefully." He was taking it lightly but he still remembered the cold pain of dying by the hands of the person he trusted in the entire planet. "Shut up!" She's totally pissed off. Time sure flies and the fate they weave changed into something they couldn't grasp. During the time they were together, it appears Arion had an inquiry that bugs his mind up until now. "Now I realized... you hypnotized me from thinking you were my girlfriend. Since we're a team now, mind telling me your name?" Arion sincerely asked. He was wearing the serious facade that he used whenever he has an interview on his new invention, back when he was still living on earth. The girl in front of him was clenching her fist. Undoubtedly, based on her bodily expression, she was afraid of her name being known or some sort concerning this matter. Arion deduced that being an assassin is really hard. Guilt from killing people was her sole job on a life that is only given once, and upon reincarnating as a second chance, she'll likely do the same. "I..." It's as if there was a thorn preventing her tongue from speaking. "C'mon tell me. I still need at least 1 hour and 29 minutes to understand the entire concept of this new world and the magic spell Azrael was talking about." He was being practical and rational just like his old self. Unaware and actually excited to hear her name, Arion suddenly widened his eyes when his former girlfriend darted out jumping through trees and branches, eluding his questions without even saying anything. She truly left him under the heavy rainfall, now he felt how do the actors feel when they were crying under the shade of moonlight while raining. But there's no way he would cry over these trivial matters. He comprehends that she also has her reasons. "Why am I kneeling...? This sucks." He kind of knelt over, not knowing what he should do, a navigation box containing a readable text appeared in front of him. "Hm... the hell is this?" Looking at a very fancy system information interface that popped out of nowhere, he realized it was attached to his line of sight upon moving his head. He inadvertently clicked it using his index fingers and lines of dialogue appeared before him. >> Arion Level 1 Class: Creator Inventions: 0 Companions: ☐☐☐☐ (Name is hidden through concealing magic) "What the heck? She can do that? Sneaky little bastard!" Arion frowned while stressed out. After skimming through it, he swiped it towards the left and another notification followed up. [ System Message | Read - Yes or No? ] Without knowing what it really does, he clicked the yes button and a message box appeared. [ From Azrael: Register as a mage in the Althas Kingdom up north, specifically at the Guildhall of the Capital ] "Even at this world... you interfere!" He was pissed off and swiped all the navigation downwards in anger. Badly enough, his partner left him and there's nothing he could do about it. Without any choice at all, Arion had to do what Azrael told him through the system, whether he liked it or not.
