They were trained to survive.

Taught to follow orders.

And warned never to let emotions become a weakness.

Captain Aiden Reyes and Lieutenant Serena Castillo have spent years fighting side by side, trusting each other with their lives on every mission. Their bond is unbreakable—but the one rule they can never afford to break is falling in love.

When a classified operation exposes a conspiracy that reaches far beyond the battlefield, they become the military's most valuable soldiers—and its biggest targets. Hunted by enemies from the shadows and forced to question who they can trust, Aiden and Serena must choose between their duty to their country and the feelings they've kept hidden for years.

Every mission could be their last.

Every goodbye could be forever.

And when the final order is given, they'll discover that the greatest battle isn't fought with bullets... it's fought for the one person worth coming home to.

In war, victory has a price. In love, it could cost everything.

Prologue
The rain poured relentlessly, washing crimson streaks across the cracked concrete. Smoke curled into the night sky as distant gunfire echoed through the abandoned military compound. Sirens. Explosions. The deafening sound of helicopters circling overhead. Captain Serena Castillo struggled to breathe as she knelt on the cold ground, her trembling hands pressed against the deep wound on the man lying before her. "No... no, no..." she whispered, her voice breaking. Blood seeped through her fingers no matter how hard she tried to stop it. "Aiden... stay with me." Captain Aiden Reyes let out a weak laugh despite the pain. "You finally called me by my first name." "Shut up." Tears streamed down Serena's face. "Don't you dare joke right now." "I always knew..." he murmured, coughing up blood, "...you looked prettier when you cried." "Please..." she begged. "The rescue team is coming. You'll be fine." Aiden slowly reached for her shaking hand. "Do me a favor." "No." "I haven't even asked yet." "I said no." "If I don't make it..." "Stop." "...promise me you'll finish the mission." She shook her head violently. "I choose you, Aiden." For the first time in years, the words they had buried beneath ranks, discipline, and countless deployments escaped without fear. "I don't care about the mission anymore." Silence. Only the rain answered. Aiden's eyes softened as he looked at the woman he had loved for years but was never brave enough to tell. "I've loved you... since our first deployment." Serena's breath caught. "So why..." she whispered. "Because soldiers don't always get happy endings." A deafening explosion erupted nearby. The ground shook violently. Someone shouted through the radio. "Captain Castillo! Leave the area immediately! That's an order!" She ignored every voice. Every order. Every protocol. She refused to let go of his hand. Then... A gunshot rang out. Serena's eyes widened. Everything went silent. That was the moment everything changed.
