Chapter 1: President
"Ahhhh! How can the female lead be so foolish?" A loud voice resounded outside a substantial door. Two silhouettes abruptly halted their steps and hurriedly approached the door.
Knock, knock, knock.
"Is everything alright, President?" they inquired with evident concern. There was no immediate response, intensifying their worry.
"President, we're coming in!" an anxious voice declared. Just before they could fully open the door, an anxious voice rang out.
"I'm fine, don't worry about me. Carry on with your work." The president reassured them. The two exchanged glances and answered with great respect, "Very well, please excuse us," before departing and vanishing from view.
Inside the office, a lady of exquisite beauty and pale complexion sat in an unusual posture in her chair, breathing heavily. "That was a close call; I almost ruined my reputation," she muttered to herself.
After regaining her composure, she picked up the book once more and immersed herself in its pages. Soon, her nails were digging into her palms, and her brows furrowed. Unable to bear it any longer, she flung the book onto the sofa. "Great! Just great! How can someone make the female lead so unlikable? The villainess is far superior to her!" she spat in frustration. She sighed and rang the bell to request a cup of coffee.
A person soon entered her office and handed her the coffee. He stepped aside and waited for further instructions. However, minutes passed, and the president remained engrossed in her reading, seemingly oblivious to his presence.
"President, your coffee has turned cold." he gently reminded her. The president finally acknowledged his presence, inquiring curiously, "Why are you here?" The man's mouth twitched, but he responded earnestly, "I'll take my leave now. Please remember to drink your coffee and get some rest. You have a meeting tomorrow." With that, he exited the office with the utmost respect.
With a resounding thud, the president was once again alone in her office, enveloped in silence. She sipped her coffee while engrossed in her reading. The scene was tranquil and aesthetically pleasing, but her sporadic expressions marred the tranquility. To an observer, it might seem as though she had received a grave report.
An hour later, she closed the book and began her work. Yet, before she could make headway in the first folder, her vision grew hazy. Soon, she fainted...
-----------------------------------------
Deep within a silent and desolate forest lay an abandoned house. Its exterior was unsightly, overrun by mold and insects. As nature gradually reclaimed the surroundings, a nauseating stench of blood became apparent. Inside the house, a few dilapidated pieces of furniture and four shadowy figures were visible. Amidst the audible beatings and escalating cries, the situation intensified.
"No, don't harm them! Their family has wealth; they'll pay any ransom you ask for!" a middle-aged woman implored, falling to her knees. The burly man, however, showed no mercy and continued to assault the girl. She bit her lower lip, her eyes determined to prevent any sign of pain from escaping. Her gaze shifted to another child who bore a striking resemblance to her. This child cried while clinging to the woman.
After a while, the burly man ceased his actions, indicating he would leave the girl alone. He began to move toward the child, but a feeble hand clung to his foot, preventing him from proceeding. Though weak, she refused to release her hold on the man's foot, understanding that her younger sister would suffer in his hands. However, her action triggered the man to resume his violence against her. He turned around and resumed kicking the girl.
After enduring several kicks, the girl's consciousness began to slip away, yet she clung even tighter to his foot, unwavering in her determination not to allow this monster to harm her loved ones. Unable to tolerate her persistence any longer, the man opted to target her head instead. It was in that moment that the girl drew her final breath.
"No! Sister!" the child cried out, rushing to her side. The woman also followed, calling, "My lady!" The child buried her head in her sister's neck, weeping.
"What an amusing sight! Don't worry; you two will soon join your beloved lady!" the man jeered, his laughter menacing. He advanced toward the child, but the woman hastily shielded her. This further enraged the man, who resorted to pulling the woman's hair. She cried out in pain but continued to shield the child. The man, devoid of any hint of humanity, retrieved a g*n from his pocket and aimed it at her head. "Move, and you won't die," he stated coldly.
Yet, the woman remained steadfast, resolutely protecting her lady. She had been unable to shield the eldest girl, and she was now prepared to give her life for her last remaining lady. "Not even the king of hell will be able to make me move!" she declared. The man laughed and was on the verge of pulling the trigger when...
Amidst the chaos, the supposedly lifeless lady began to move. Her brow furrowed, and although her eyes remained closed, she could hear what was transpiring. Despite her confusion, she was alert to the possibilities. When she detected the g*n's movements, despite her heavy eyelids, she forced herself to wake up.
A tiny hand firmly gripped his, shifting the position of his g*n to avoid a critical shot to the woman's body. The man's eyes widened in disbelief as he gazed at the owner of that hand. He was dumbfounded, confronted by cold eyes emanating a powerful, lethal intent. How could this girl, seemingly at death's door, now be alive?
The g*n slipped from his hand, and he took a step back, his mind clouded by confusion. The girl quickly examined the woman's wounds and... I'm relieved that you're alive." Her voice weak.
