Without another word, the woman slapped Catherine hard across the face.
The phone rang, and Catherine heard Lorenzo's voice on the other end.
"Hello, Catherine, what's happening?"
"I've been kidnapped, Lorenzo." She managed, her voice shaking as the woman leaned in closer, her breath hot against Catherine's ear.
"Okay, I understand. Stay calm and tell me—has she made any demands?"
"She said... you have to come alone to Redwater Canyon," Catherine said.
As soon as the words were out, the woman snatched the phone from her.
"Lorenzo, I'm sure you heard her. You must come alone. If you don't... she'll die."
The woman's voice was cold as she hung up the phone.
"I think you've made a mistake. I'm not important to Lorenzo, or to Louis," she tried, groping.
