The Great Lakes: A Collection of Poems

The world is a dangerous place. We’re surrounded by deadly things, and we’re not even aware of most of them. We’re constantly bombarded by harmful radiation from the sun, and we’re constantly breathing in harmful toxins. We’re walking around on a planet with sharp objects and deadly creatures, we’re driving cars and flying airplanes. We’re eating food that’s been sitting out for hours. We’re drinking water that’s been sitting in dirty pipes. We’re doing all of these things, and we’re not even aware of the danger. We’re not even aware of the potential for disaster. And yet, we’re still alive. Why? Because we have evolved to be incredibly resilient. We have evolved to survive in spite of the dangers that surround us. But we’re not invincible. We’re not immune to the dangers of the world And if we’re not careful, we can easily die We can die from, a car accident, a disease, or from a natural disease  We can die from a lot of things And if we die, it’s not because the world is a dangerous place. It’s because we’re not careful enough. We’re not careful enough, and we’re not prepared We need to be careful. We need to be more prepared We need to be ready for the dangers that surround us
