"YYEEEEEESSSSS!!!" screamed Jen. It was finally over.
"School's out! School's out! School's out!!" chanted the sudents rushing out of West Junior High. Jen, being one of the faster runners in the school, was among the first to burst through the glass doors of the school. Dragging Sarah along, she rushed over to Alex's place as he didn't really go to school. She and Sarah arrived pretty fast and told him about their plan to go on a quest to find his parents.
"It'll be fun, uh, like we'll go to some places where you suggest they might be at!" Jen exclaimed excitedly. "And we might be able to find where our powers came from!" Sarah added, then suddenly frowned. "But I don't -" "Yeah, you don't have powers though." Alex completed her sentence a little impolitely. Jen pushed Alex off his rock and Alex pushed her back.
"Don't be sad, Sarah. Don't listen to him. Mr. Mysterious is just pulling your leg, I'm sure you're gonna find yours when we get going." said Jen, trying to comfort Sarah who was now trying to hurt herself by doing a backflip. Or at least trying to.
After everyone had calmed down, Jen, Sarah and Alex had to promise that they wouldn't back out of their quest. "We gotta take an oath. It's, like, the most solemn promise anyone can make. So now just place your hand over mine, and then Sarah you put yours over Jen's. Now say, 'I promise to stick together and never betray these soulmates I was destined to meet.'"
"I promise to stick together and never betray these soulmates I was destined to meet." chorused all three kids.
"Okay, now. You guys ready?" asked Sarah. Jen and Alex nodded. "First stop: Shadow Chasms." said Alex, pulling out an old, yellowed map. "Let's go."
