Never Judge A Book By Its Cover
Heads turned, voices hushed, when Lu Han and Hash walked into the hall. Lu Han had his hand around her waist and they were smiling jubilantly and occasionally stealing stealthy glances at each other which was not missed by the crowd of people. Today, the party was thrown by Lu Han's father Lu Huan on behalf of Lu Han who won the Most Successful Entrepreneur of the year and the youngest to ever get it. The couple walked up to their parents who were smiling proudly at them. Lu Han's mother Lu Ah Cy walked up to Hash and gave her a warm hug, he turned to Lu Han and gave him a loving hug and smiled proudly at them.
"I am so proud of you son," she said,"and I am happy that you got Hash by your side to help you."
They both smiled awkwardly at each other and quickly looked away.
'Your father is going to start the party with his speech as usual," she murmured into his ear as they walked towards the front table,"bear with him and then you can enjoy."
"No problem," he said smiling.
True to Lu Ah Cy's word, Lu Huan could deliver a speech which was so boring that boring wouldn't know what it is supposed to do after exceeding boredom. Well, after the boring speech the party hit the town, the Lu Hash couple was the talk of the city.
"They look so good together," someone would say.
"They are overflowing with love," another would say.
"Wish I would find someone like Lu Han," one young girl would wish.
Admiration, wishes and even envy were endless. They were the ideal couple, and everyone loved them. Lu Han and Hash are a newly wedded couple, both from very rich families and they were made for each other. It was just a year ago when they met and fell in love with each other and in a flash they got married. The wedding was the epitome of the town talk. It was a talk which lasted a month, it was a wedding which every girl dreamt of. Hash Pearse, a girl of virtues and a beauty that spoke outright of her virtues, her beau was no exception, a cool headed, handsome fellow that would make any girl fall for. And, so yes, they are definitely a match made in heaven.
Se Hun was nearly hit by a flying vase when he entered, lucky or unlucky, you can call it, but he was saved by the nick of time by ducking out from that flying vase. He sadly looked at the not so lucky vase which was lying at the foot of the door in pieces. It was early morning after the party when he decided to swing by his best friend's place, Hash. But you could say that it wasn't a warm welcome at all, surely he had come at the wrong time. Knowing that he was proceeding towards a war frontier he walked with caution towards the hall. What he saw made him want to turn back on his heels and go back home, but then his good heart didn't allow him to do so. He sighed and walked up to her; Hash. She surely looked mad, so mad that Se Hun would feel it in the entire house, the maids were no where to be seen (obviously) except for her maid Jenny who knew that Hash was only bark but no bite. Hash was in tears and that broke his heart. He sighed in frustration, because he was helpless, he couldn't do anything to console her, it is none of his business to poke into their marriage life.
Sighing, he walked up to her and gently took the candle stand which was in her hand(well, he had to pry it form her hand), and made her sit on the nearby chair, kneeling in front of her,"what happened today?" he asked,"was it the same reason?"
Hash looked at him with tears in her eyes, a tear rolled down her cheeks, Se Hun wiped it away with his thumb,"I can't do this anymore Hun, I am damn tired of this act!" and she bursts out crying, wailing her pain out.
Se Hun didn't know what to do, he knew that her best friend's life wasn't the fairy tale life that everyone thought to be of, instead it was just the opposite,it was a compromise, a profit for both the families and his friend was caught in between. Hash was trying her best to work this marriage, but it takes two to tango. He sighed,"whatever these town people speak is all a damn lie. Had they known what the real situation was, I wouldn't dare to think what would happen. All the talks are just a lie to cover up this lie and I can't do anything about it," he thought as Hash cried in his arms.
"Hush now, stop crying and tell me what exactly happened."
Hash was crying so hard that she couldn't get a single word out, Se Hun looked at Jenny for an explanation.
Jenny sighed and gave him the-same-old-reason look,"well today it went a step ahead sir."
Se Hun frowned,"that's why the flying objects?"
Jenny nodded with a smirk,"Mr. Lu Han's mother was talking about wanting a grandchild with Ms, and she was going a bit too far, throwing hints at her. When Ms told Mr. Lu Han in the morning he just looked at her blankly and walked out of the door saying that he is late for work."
Se Hun turned towards Hash sighing, well, this was definitely out of his area of concerns, he turned back to Jenny,"did she eat?"
"No sir, not since yesterday morning. I tried my best but couldn't get her to eat anything."
Se Hun stood her up, who was at the verge of collapsing, walked her to her room,"bring something to her room," he said to Jenny while they walked past her.
Jenny nodded and went to the kitchen to prepare something while Se Hun led Hash to her room. Her room was right next to Lu Han's and yes they stayed in two different rooms, forget about babies, when they aren't able to see each other. Hash's entire room was decorated in white, form the carpets to the walls to the bedding to the furnitures, everything was white. It was like walking into heaven. Se Hun made her lie on the bed and went to open her windows. The view was breathe taking, he suddenly remembered the Permberly estate in Pride and Prejudice, Hash's room which is on the second floor gives a clear view of the entire estate. Se Hun turned to the knock, Jenny had brought a tray of fruits and a dish of porridge oats. He took it from her and went to Hash,"you have to eat this Hash, you haven't eaten anything since yesterday. I hate to see you like this."
Hash turned her head to the other side totally ignoring him.
"You have to eat this," he insisted,"if not I'll call up your mum and tell her everything,' he threatened her.
Hash snapped her head towards him and gave him a deadly glare and snatched the tray from him. He grinned at Jenny,"it always works."
After Hash finished her breakfast Se Hun dragged a chair to the foot of her bed,"so where do you wanna go today?"
"No where," she replied.
"Yeah right!' he smirked,"lets go to that new mall, I bet you have loads to buy."
"I don't want anything." she glared at him,"will you just leave me alone! You annoying brat!"
"Not gonna leave you," he grinned. "Besides I promised your mum that I would bring you to her today, so you have to come."
Hash have him a blank stare,"wish the vase had hit you right on your stupid head!" she gritted.
"But it didn't, so get ready," before she could speak," no saying no, get ready." Saying so he walked out of the room grinning at her failed attempt to hit him with the pillow which she threw at him.
Hash huffed and puffed at the closed door. Sulking she reluctantly got down form them bed and went to the bathroom giving up. She knew that it was quite pointless in trying to win an argument with Se Hun, but then it's at least better than trying to have an argument with Lu Han who was a complete wall. It brought tears to her eyes when she remembered their fruitless conversation today, she wiped her tears away and hurriedly got ready.
That's what she was good at, except for her foul temper, Hash was too innocent, too good and forgiving and forgetting,"maybe that's why everyone tries to take advantage from me," she often thought. But no matter how hard she tried to freeze her heart she couldn't, she wasn't made like that.
