Chapter Nine
Nate sat in his office for a while after Liz left. He knew she was beating herself up over the possibility of Mickey coming here. He wished he could do something to help her, but he wasn’t going to hold back the truth from her either.
Mickey had told her he would kill her if he had to come to get his s**t from her. Nate believed her when she said she didn’t know what he was talking about. It was possible the bodyguard had fled as well and stolen something, setting her up. Nate had seen and heard of stranger things.
He could hear music coming from down the hall, classic rock; she had good taste. Deciding to leave her to what she was doing since she had a lot going on, he stayed where he was. He wished he could fix it for her and bring back the person she was starting to let
