Ethan Carter never aspired to be a player in the dangerous game of politics. He's just a financial analyst who's too good at spotting patterns-too sharp at spotting loopholes. However, one small mistake sees him fail his retest and nearly lose everything.

When a mysterious man offers him a second chance, Ethan finds himself caught up in a financial conspiracy bigger than he could have ever imagined. Missing funds, phantom companies, and cunning strategies like a game of chess begin to drag him into a world where one wrong move can lead to death.

Behind the curtain of American politics, the truth is not just black and white-and Ethan must choose whether he will be the pawn that is played... or the player who controls the board.

In this world, there are only two choices: uncover the truth, or be buried with its secrets.

Turning Point
The cold spring air was crisp as Nathaniel “Nate” Carter stepped out of the exam results announcement building. The midday sun shone softly, creating long shadows on the sidewalk. His fingers tightly grasped a precious piece of paper: first place in the national medical licensing exam. But this was more than just an ordinary academic achievement. It was a turning point. The face reflected in the glass of the building’s window is still the same—a young man in his twenties with sharp eyes. But within it lies the soul of someone who has gone through a complete breakdown. He had been reborn. In his previous life, he was a poor man who struggled to be accepted by the family of his girlfriend, Scarlett Walker. For the sake of love, he humbled himself, accepted humiliation, and submitted to the cruel terms of Thomas Walker, Scarlett's father. However, all the sacrifices are in vain. Their marriage turns into hell. Scarlett betrays him, Thomas humiliates her, and her mother, Evelyn Walker, just watches coldly. Nate tried to survive, but the wounds were too deep. Depression swallowed him alive, until finally, on the edge of despair, he chose to end it all. But God gave him a second chance. And this time, he wouldn't make the same mistake. His first step? Confronting Thomas Walker. --- The luxurious office building where Thomas Walker had his office stood tall with glass walls reflecting the clear sky. Nate walked through the lobby without hesitation, his sharp gaze piercing everyone who turned to him. The receptionist at the front desk froze for a moment before finally recognizing him. "Dr. Carter?" the woman asked hesitantly. Nate smiled slightly. "Not yet, but soon." He didn't wait to be escorted. Confidently, he walked to the elevator and pressed the button for the highest floor. His steps were heavy, not from hesitation, but from the weight of the past he now carried with him to destroy. Arriving at Thomas's office door, Nate pushed it open without knocking. Thomas Walker sat behind a mahogany desk, wearing an expensive suit that reflected his status. A man with a look of superiority in his eyes. At the side of the room, a glass wall showed a bird's-eye view of the city. Thomas raised an eyebrow when he saw it. "I must admit," he said, leaning back in his chair, "being ranked number one in the national medical exam is quite surprising." He grinned. "But don't get overconfident, young man. Our family is still in a different class than people like you." In the past, Nate would have kept his head down. In the past, he would have tried to prove himself worthy. But not this time. Nate walked over and sat down uninvited. He placed the exam paper on Thomas's desk, patting it lightly. "I don't care about your family," he said casually. "In fact, I never liked you guys." The room was instantly silent. Thomas's eyes narrowed. "You don't like our family?" He repeated, his voice lowered with hidden danger. Nate shrugged. "Exactly. I came not to seek your approval, but to remind you that I'm going to be someone far greater than you could ever imagine." Thomas chuckled, but there was annoyance in his gaze. "Your courage amuses me, Nate," he said, crossing his fingers on the table. "But don't get me wrong. This world isn't just about how good you are at tests. It belongs to the people who have power." Nate smiled slightly. "Power? You're right." He leaned back in his chair. "And you know what? I have it now, too." Thomas gasped, his brow furrowed deeply. "What do you mean?" Nate didn't answer. Out of the tail of his eye, he caught two figures eavesdropping behind the slightly open glass door—Scarlett and Evelyn Walker. It was exactly as he had expected. Scarlett seemed frozen, while Evelyn looked at him with a calculating expression. They all heard him. Perfect. Thomas' face flushed with anger. "I want you to apologize right now!" Nate tilted his head, looking at him as if he were judging a meaningless insect. Then, without another word, he turned and walked out. This was not an apology. This was the beginning of retaliation. --- As soon as Nate left, a loud slamming sound rang through the room. Thomas hit the table with a fist, his expression turning dark. Scarlett stepped in hesitantly. "What happened to that guy? He's not what he used to be!" Evelyn looked at her daughter coldly. "It seems like he's no longer a man you can control as easily as before." Thomas massaged his temples. "It's all because you were too soft on him back then! Now he thinks he can stand on equal footing with us!" Scarlett bit her lip. "I don't understand... She never used to talk like that." Fear began to creep into her eyes. Thomas suddenly grabbed his office phone and typed in a number. Scarlett looked at him suspiciously. "Dad, you're not going to—" "I will make sure that the exam is rechecked to the strictest standards," Thomas said coldly. "If there's just one loophole, one small mistake... then she'll never be able to become a doctor." However, before Thomas could press the call button, his phone rang first. An unknown number. Thomas squinted before finally picking up. "Hello?" The voice on the other end sounded low and firm. "Mr. Walker, I advise you not to disturb Nathaniel Carter." Thomas froze. "Who are you?" There was a moment of silence, then the voice continued in a threatening tone. "He is no longer a man you can trample on. And if you insist on getting in his way... then the Walker family will face the consequences." Click. The connection was severed. The room felt colder than before. Scarlett and Evelyn exchanged glances. Even they could see something rare on Thomas Walker's face—anxiety. For the first time in a long time, Thomas felt that he was no longer the hunter in this game. And one question haunted him: Who was protecting Nate? And how dangerous is that person?
