Chapter 9: The meeting….

4032 Words
Later that night…. Clouse I woke up grabbing my chest as if I had been hit with a wall of fear and anxiety. It fueled a wave of anger within me. I had not felt anxious for centuries. I had to be feeling her emotions now. It had been a month since our chance encounter and I was no closer to finding her, but these old emotions of feelings confirmed that she was with child. Our child. We were under the same sky I thought to myself and now I could feel her emotions. I didn’t like my Queen feeling anxious especially if she was pregnant with our child. I needed to feel her again, breathe her again, and taste her once more. I suddenly felt sad and alone. Zach walked back into the room. He snapped me back into the reality of what had just happened. We had just witnessed a skinwalker in Los Angeles get burned alive. Luckily we had shown up when we did because a few hours longer and it would have arisen from its state and started killing everything and everyone in its path. Zach sat down in front of me with concern written all over his face. “Our pilots were killed. Police are investigating the crime scene at the airport. They have requested to speak with you and by ‘They’ I mean the council.” I nodded. “Very good. We are to meet them at Fogo de Chao in an hour. I think it best to be on our guard considering what went down at LAX and what we witnessed here.” “I agree. Let’s get out of here. We don’t want to bring any further trouble to the humans here. Let’s head to our safe house, get changed, and get going.” I got up and then clutched my chest and sat back down. “Hey! Clouse! Are you okay?! What’s wrong man?” Zach rushed and looked over me in alarm. I swatted him away. “It’s nothing, Zach. My Queen and I are becoming more attached as the baby grows. I can feel her emotions now and she is all over the place.” I could feel my eyes go red and then purple. Zach looked at me wide-eyed at my shift. “I have to find her. We need to go now.” Zach snaked my arm around his shoulders and helped me up. We said goodbye to everyone. “Our debt is paid, Carnal.” Neto tilted his head back at Zach. Zach returned the gesture. We made our way back to the end of the barrio and had a Lyft pick us up. Our driver was a kickback guy named Greg. He had an eclectic taste for music. He didn’t say much except the salutations and destination point. He made the ride endurable and we made sure to leave him a ridiculous tip to keep his mouth shut. He agreed and was done for the night. When we arrived at our undisclosed area in L.A. we were relieved to see no one knew about this place. As we entered we made sure the place was clear. We got changed into our normal attire. We were about to head out when my cell phone pinged and it was a text from an unknown number. It read: ‘I know who you are looking for and I know where she is. We know what you are and we know what she is. We know she is carrying an abomination and we will put an end to the both of them and come for you.’ “AAAHHHHH!” I threw the phone against the wall and it shattered into hundreds of pieces. “No meeting Zach. Change of plans. Have a P.R. person go in our stead. I need to get a hold of someone that can get me in touch with the Wolf King and Queen immediately.” Zach got on his phone and started making the calls. I called in my old buddy Constantine. “Yea, this is Constantine.” His gruff voice on the other line was unmistakable. “Is this who I think it is? News is out about you looking for the Wolf Royals. Truth be told they aren’t really forthcoming on wanting to speak to you, but I’ll see what I can do.” Constantine was a liaison between heaven and hell and he owed me a big favor. Doing this for me was just a smidgen taken off of his debt to me. I didn’t even have to say anything and he knew it was me. “Can I get a hold of you on this number?” “Hmm.” “Okay. Sit tight and I’ll get back to you in twenty-four hours.” The line went dead. I knew that he would come through and keep quiet about it. He wasn’t exactly the warm and fuzzy type of person. I looked up at Zach. He nodded. We hung back at our safe house and waited. The next day…… The council was pissed at our dismissal of their requests and demanded we meet with them. I got onto a video conference with them instead and made sure that our location would be untraceable. I let them know that I was busy at the moment and this was the best anyone was going to get for the time being. They were yelling and being overdramatic, but eventually, everything calmed down and the call ended. It wasn’t long before Constantine called me back. “King Kai denied your request at first but then granted it. You will meet him in Kawaii tonight in Princeville. Zach is to wait at the airport for you. You are to go alone. Under no other conditions will he meet with you and he will have his guards with him. Do you accept these terms?” “Yes.” I wasn’t afraid for me, but afraid for my Queen and baby. “Very well. He’ll see you then.” Constantine hung up. I looked at Zach. “We need another crew and we fly out immediately. You are to wait at the airport per the conditions of the meeting. Under no other circumstances will I be seen by the Wolf King. He will have guards. We need to make sure this happens otherwise my Queen and future unborn child’s life will be at risk.” Zach nodded and he was back on the phone scrambling another flight crew on short notice. Within two hours we were up in the air. Kawaii. King Kai POV I anxiously awaited to meet this vampire that had requested to see me. It was very random not to mention the request came from the archangel – Constantine. I was looking for the vampires from the recent killings. I needed to know who he and they are and his purpose for looking us up with a focus on my daughter that was recently announced dead to the world, but hiding in plain sight. My nerves ran high because unbeknownst to the world my precious daughter was pregnant by an unknown paranormal. I was in my office at the hotel I owned and was pacing back and forth. I was thinking of every possible reason they wanted to meet. No one knew she was alive and if they somehow did then they didn’t know her whereabouts. Could it be possible that one of them was the father? I waved my hand back and forth shaking the possibility of wolf and vampire mates. It wasn’t unheard of, but they weren’t free to live openly without getting harassed or killed either by other paranormal beings or humans. I kept wracking my brain until he arrived outside of my office. KNOCK! KNOCK! I pressed the buzzer to allow entry. In came my guards and to my utmost surprise in walked Clouse the Blood King. I had to mask my shock at seeing him. He wasn’t someone that came around and if he did it wasn’t a small matter. He also looked like a whirlwind of emotions. I c****d an eyebrow because typically he is stone-faced. I waved my guards to leave. They did as I asked, turned around, and exited. “Kai. It is a pleasure to formally meet you in person and not in other meetings.” He bowed to me with his arm across his chest and I returned the gesture. I encouraged him to have a seat, but he waved me off and remained standing. I was a little put off about how informal he was being towards me. “Likewise, Clouse. I am surprised at you being the one to walk through my office door. To what do I owe the honor of such a meeting of Kings?” I watched him credulously as he had lowered his gaze. Did he lower his gaze to me? Now I was even more curious. My wolf watched him as if he was stalking his prey. Then his next sentence was like a kick to the groin. “Kai, I came here to seek your acceptance of your daughter’s hand in marriage. Before you go on to tell me she expired I know she and our baby is alive. Please, Kai. She ran off and left me while stealing my heart like a thief in the night. I must know where she is.” Clouse had a pleading look in his eyes. I on the other hand was a volcano about to blow. “YOU! IT WAS YOU?!” I was so infuriated that my spit was flying all over the place as I waved my finger at him. “Do you realize what you have DONE?!” My hand came crashing down on my desk splintering it into pieces and my voice was booming. I couldn’t help but be a pissed-off and overprotective dad. Clouse looked at me now with his brows furrowed and waited for me to finish my rant. “She sneaks out of the castle to leave for a few days apparently to clear her head, comes back to declare the life we built for her she no longer wants AND WE FIND OUT SHE IS!” Before I can finish my sentence he rushes me to silence me. I bite his hand and snarl, “SHE’S DEAD NOW BECAUSE OF YOU! Y-You did this and now…” I choked out a sob. Not because my daughter was really dead, but because of the sense of loss of my baby girl. Clouse let up and looked at me clearly taken aback by my words. He backed away from me with his hands now up in the air. I stood there crying about the loss of my daughter and the situation we were now all in. “Kai, you have to know this wasn’t intentional. I mated with your daughter because she is my Queen. It would make everything a lot easier if you accepted my proposal and allowed me to marry her before she has our child. If you scream and announce to everyone she is with child you will paint a target on her so big that it’ll put her in danger and will make it difficult for any of us to protect her and my unborn baby if she is not here with me.” Clouse was looking at me determined. “I didn’t come here to fight or challenge you, Kai. I came here to do what is right. I know she isn’t dead. I know she is with child because I can feel her emotions and every day our baby grows our link grows stronger. She is anxious and that angers me because her anxiousness leads me to believe she doesn’t feel safe at present. Where is she?” Clouse was gripping the back of one of the chairs waiting for me to give him an answer. I had a few more questions. “Did you kill that Alpha that was intended for her?” I asked him still seething from his declarations. “I did,” Clouse said. He walked around the chair and we stood face to face. “He wasn’t fit to be her mate.” He hissed. “He saw her an opportunity! A f*****g opportunity! You were going to marry your own flesh and blood that you claim to be all heartbroken over to a worthless piece of s**t like that?! He wasn’t fit to be any type of royalty!” Clouse’s eyes were red at this point. I was floored by what he stated because I had no idea the Alpha we had paired with my daughter was a two-faced snipe. He saw it and continued. “Ahhh didn’t know that about your choice in mutt huh? He was an asshole. He was no Alpha or leader for that matter. I never saw your daughter as an opportunity. I saw her as my Goddess. My muse. My Queen.” I saw Clouse’s eyes twinkle and I instantly felt for him. He locked gazes with me after the moment passed. “I will take her with or without your permission. I came here initially because it’s the right thing to do. I also came here to find out where she is because she and our unborn baby is in danger. I received a text from a random number before I came here indicating that paranormal beings out there know who she is to me, that she is with child and that they will kill her then me.” He shot me a look like ‘come on’ and I could feel the color drain with this new information. “Th-they know?” I stammered. Now my emotions were like a bag of cats. My wolf was also starting to surface and clearly enraged by the threats made. “How do I know….” KABOOM! Just then my office door blew up into splinters and we went hurtling backward into the walls. Three of the most infamous witches stepped in like they owned the place. They spotted us and came sauntering in towards us. We immediately rose to our feet. “Ah! There they are just as we expected. We get to have our cake and eat it too ladies.” The tall blonde witch cooed. “The two kings here in a meeting about the precious princess I’m sure.” She directed her attention to Clouse and got up close and personal after she had bound him with a flick of her wrist. “Aww, did you come to get daddy’s permission to marry his daughter?” She ran her finger down his face and traced his lips with her fingers. I looked on wondering if they had something more at one time. “How precious Clouse. I never pegged you for the marrying type. I always thought you’d stay single forever or make me your Queen.” She winked at him and made an advance to kiss him, but kept her pink lips to herself. He did not move or flinch. He just stared blankly at her. Unmoved by her antagonizing. She smiled and stayed in front of him. She started to pet him and caress his face. “Oh stop petting him! If you’re going to pet anyone it should be this pathetic excuse for a King of Werewolves. I mean he does turn into a dog.” They all laughed. I just rolled my eyes. “DON’T roll your eyes at me. What? You think you’re better than me wolfman?” This was a leggy brunette with silver eyes. She looked old and mummified. Lucky for her she could pull off a decent glamour spell to cover up her wrinkles, but I saw right through it. She was sneering as she continued, “You’re nothing but a waste of space and air! Your very species shouldn’t even exist! As a matter of fact, how’s your daughter doing?” She smirked at me. I too looked at her expressionless now. I wouldn’t give these stupid bitches the satisfaction. “Ladies, let’s start the torturing so we can find that little b***h and her bastard abomination.” Both of us glared at her. She smiled at our sudden change of reaction. This red-headed fireball looked at us with an innocent face, full pouting lips, and clasped her hands in excitement. She was gleeful to inform us of their predictable plan. “Oh, don’t worry gentlemen we have no intention of killing her or the baby. I mean, we will eventually kill the mother after she’s had the babe. There won’t be a need for her anymore.” She sighed as she ran her fingers along my office curtains and gazing out of the window. “Her child is part of a prophecy and will have powers that we have every intention of harnessing. We will raise the child as our own and use him or her as we see fit.” She turned our attention back to us and her voice went sugary sweet. “Now, we are going to kill you both. Clouse, I understand you are her mate. We will be severing the bond in such a way that will not put her or the baby in harm’s way. In a way, we will be faking it. I guess you can say.” She shrugged her shoulders. “You both are not fit to be royalty and how it came to be is a joke. You will be missed. Or not.” At her last words, my wife had snuck up behind her and stabbed her from behind with our Moon Goddess dagger. She twisted it right at the last and said something inaudible in her ear before the witch wailed reaching out for her comrades. Clouse moved swiftly and removed the head of the blonde witch. I don’t think she felt anything nor see it coming. Her body crumpled to the ground while still convulsing. He opened up a window nonchalantly and threw her head out. I turned to the brunette in front of me who watched in horror as her accomplices were violently killed. Now it was my turn. Her back was turned to me. I spun her around to face me. Her face still in shock. I ripped out her throat. A small mirror fell to the floor from her sleeve and I stepped on it. She screamed while grabbing at her face. Within seconds she was reduced into ashes. Clouse POV I turned to Kai with a sheepish grin. “What were you going to say earlier, Kai?” “Nevermind,” Kai grumbled. The Queen approached us while cleaning her blade on her dress. “Well, that was fun!” She said with an exasperated sigh. “Can somebody please explain to me what in the world is going on? Who are you?” She looked at me quizzically. Her daughter was almost a spitting image of her. Natural beauty with these wolves was incomparable to anyone trying to masquerade in makeup. “I am Clouse Agesander, your majesty.” I bowed to Kai’s wife. My eyes never left hers and Kai began to growl. “Your daughter is almost a spitting image to your highness. Your family’s beauty is beyond compare.” “Thank you for your compliments, Clouse. What is the purpose of your meeting with my husband? Why were witches attacking the both of you and please elaborate what this has to do with our daughter?” Kai’s wife turned to him with questioning and tear-filled eyes. “My love, Clouse is the Blood King and our daughter’s mate.” Naturally, Kai’s wife gasped. “He wants to know where she is so he can protect her. I’ve learned there are threats against her and our grandbaby. The witches we just killed will no doubt bring upon more unnecessary conflict. They had every intention of overthrowing both reigns by killing us, kidnapping our daughter until she gave birth, killing her, and raising their child. The child is apparently part of a prophecy now. Clouse came here to declare his love for our daughter and ask for her hand in marriage.” Kai’s wife’s look towards me was sympathetic. “The bond between mates is special and given to us by our own deities. In our case, the Moon Goddess. I can’t imagine what she has in store for you three. I’m afraid she is no longer in the mid-west where we had originally sent her. She was found out there and is now on the move. The Alpha of that pack had her moved into further hiding to protect his pack and her. I can’t imagine what she must be going through right now. My baby is so far away. The thought of her getting hurt or the baby makes me angry. I’m Leilani by the way.” Leilani extended her hand to me. I immediately kissed the back of her hand and made the mistake of holding on to her hand and smelling her. Kai broke the touch immediately and had me slammed up into the wall with his massive forearm against my windpipe. “BACK OFF OF MY WIFE! MINE!” Kai roared enough to make the windows shake. I put my hands up to show no signs of defense or defiance. Kai slowly let me down. He gave me a sad smile. “I meant no disrespect, Kai. Your Queen’s scent is similar to your daughter’s scent. It’s been over a month since I’ve smelled her. I miss her and I long to be with her again. You are the only one standing between me and her. Where was she last? I have to find her in order to protect her and our baby.” I was begging. Leilani slid her hand onto her husband’s shoulder immediately calming his wolf down. I locked gazes with Kai as he spoke. “Our daughter is strong-willed and makes her own way. She cannot be forced into anything she doesn’t want to do. We already made that mistake. If she wants you then you can have her hand in marriage. You have our blessing. If you force her or hurt our princess Clouse, make no mistake, mate or not I will kill you.” I nodded in confirmation of his conviction. “She was in Montana. She was hidden with the Wolf Creek Pack. If what my wife says is true and it’s very rare that she is wrong then we no longer know where Persephone is. She is also going by another alias – Genesis Williams. Please let us know what you uncover and keep us in the loop with our daughter. We didn’t know nor expect any of this.” I extended my hand to Kai. He nodded and shook my hand. He pulled me into a hug. We parted ways. I watched my future in-laws walk away with their guards. All of them looked as if doom loomed over them because of what was going on. No doubt they needed to find out how it was leaked out.
