Prologue
We all come at a crossroad at some point in our lives. Where we have to decide which way we are going. Are we turning left, to keep following the road that we have been following or whole lives? Or, are we turning right, to face the unknown and make the best of it?
When I was standing at that same figurative crossroad a few years back, I instantly knew what my answer was. So, without hesitation, I took the jump. With my eyes wide open.
When the mail came through that I have been given the position as the personal assistant for one of the largest marketing firms in America's CEO, I knew that I made the right decision. That same night, I packed my bags, got a bus ticket and came straight to Boston. When I got here, I deactivated all my social media accounts, changed my number and basically disappeared from the face of the earth, according to everyone back in my hometown.
And I was fine with that. Still am, actually. I mean, what's the use of staying connected to people who, once given the chance, showed you their true colours?
If given the chance, I would make that choice again. Without pause, I would do it again.
