(Unknown POV) I have been watching Yashira ever since I met her when I arrived at the diner the first time. For centuries I have been looking for someone worthy of my powers. I could sense her pure heart and after what I just witnessed… I knew she was the one. She sacrificed herself to save a child. An Alpha child at that without knowing the type of life she had chosen when coming to this town. Now I need to plan on how I’m going to do things because soon this young woman’s life is about to change. There is no going back now that I have found her. *** (Jake) It’s been a week since the incident with Ashley, Tristan, and Yashira. I couldn’t believe what I had witnessed. Yashira risked her life to save Tristan and she slapped Ashley. Ashley says she was in the bathroom when it all happened, but I knew she was lying. Sara, my mate, and I need to find proof that Ashley left him alone or that she’s trying to harm him. Ashley doesn’t care about Tristan. All she wants is to become Luna of the pack. She’s power hungry and something tells me she is willing to do anything and everything to get what she wants even if it means harming Tristan. But I can’t go to the Alpha, my best friend and just tell him what happened without proof. Everyone in the pack doesn’t like Ashley. They all know what she’s all about, but the Alpha is blind to this especially after what happened three years ago. “Nothing yet?” Sara asks walking in the room. “No, I wished Lita had cameras in her diner. It would’ve made everything so much better” I said closing the laptop. “Why not just have some of the customers that were there tell the Alpha what they saw or even Yashira” Sara suggests. “The Alpha is not going to believe them since half of the people that were there were pack members and don’t like Ashley and to have Yashira tell him what happened… he might end up killing her. Remember she’s human. “He can’t blame every single human for what happened and Yashira saved Tristan, his son. The least he could do is thank her” Sara growls. I pull her on my lap and kiss her sweet pouty lips. I pulled back placing my forehead on hers. “We’ll figure something out babe” I assured her. I just hope we can figure it out and find proof before it’s too late. *** (Yashira) Ever since I saved Tristan from getting runover by a car I have been having these strange dreams. Dreams like someone is calling out to me. For some reason the part about someone calling out to me is not the strange part. The strange part is that I have these dreams every single day and everyday there’s an added part. I look at the clock and see that it’s 2:45am. I sighed getting up. I put on grey leggings, a black sports bra with a white tank top, and black running shoes. I pocket my phone in my legging pockets then I put my hair up in a messy bun. The other day I heard grandma talking that they were running out of deer meat. I told grandma I can go hunting like we used to in Puerto Rico when I was younger, but Jeffrey has been busy these past few days to go with me and I don’t want to ask Jake or Sara to join me. They might think I’m weird or worse like the bleach blonde bimbo calls me ‘a freak’. I leave my room and walk down the stairs as quietly as possible. I walk to the kitchen and write a note to grandma that I went hunting in case she woke up and I wasn’t back yet. I then went to the back of the shed located in the back of the house where I keep my motorcycle, arrows, and bows. I grab some of my arrows and a bow. I start to jog my normal route every morning and there’s no cars at this time. I got on the train that I saw the first time I went on my run. I take a deep breath and start walking inside the woods. As I walk deeper in the woods I turn on my flashlight and see a few small animals running around trying to get away from me, but these are not the animal I’m looking for. I continue to walk further in for about half a mile when the quiet night is shattered b an ear-piercing scream followed by some growling. My heart pounded hard in my chest. A part of me was telling me to run back home where I was safe, when the other part was telling me to help this person who could be hurt badly. ‘What if this person is still alive?’ I thought to myself and before I could convince myself to turn around and run back home I opened my phone to video call grandma. I mentally groaned when I saw I had no cell service. I ran towards the growling and soon I spotted them, two wolves were biting someone. I readied my bow aiming at one of the wolves and released. The wolf whimpered falling to its side and making the other look around until his red eyes landed on me. I slowly reached for another arrow. The wolf looked at the person laying on the ground before it turned his attention to me. Just as I readied my bow the wolf lunged at me making me fall to the ground and lose my arrow. The only thing keeping this wolf from biting my head off was my bow which I had pressed between its jaws. I reached around for anything I could while still using my bow to keep this wolf from killing me. Suddenly, I touched one of my arrows and I plunged it to the side of the wolf’s neck making the wolf whimper as blood coats my upper body. I push the wolf off of me getting up and looking around for more of them but what I see is that the other wolf is gone. ‘s**t’ I mouthed. I get up and run to the person laying on the ground to see it was a woman I had seen before. A woman that had been to the diner a few times. Her name is Ana. “A...n...a?” I tried to speak but it hurt, and it came out broken. I patted her cheek then checked for a pulse, and it was weak. I tried my phone again praying there was service. I almost screamed for joy when I saw one bar. As I was about to hit the green button to video call my grandma I jumped when a hand touched mine. I looked to see it was Ana. ‘I’m going to call for help. Stay with me’ I signed even though she had no idea what I was saying. “It’s… too… late” she coughed up blood. ‘What?’ I mouthed surprised at her choice of words. “I have… been watching… you. You are… special… I’m a… witch. My powers… and I… have chosen… you to pass our powers… down to since… I have no children… please… accept them” she pleaded. This woman must have lost a lot of blood to tell me such thing. She must be hallucinating because witches don’t exist. Except on all the books I read. “Please… say you accept them” she pleaded as she coughed up more blood. I hit the button to call my grandma when Ana tried to get up. ‘Stop, you need to lay down’ I mouthed to her. “Not… until you say… you accept… my powers” she coughed up more blood and now she was gasping for air. I needed to keep her calm, so I decided to play along. ‘Okay. I accept your powers’ I mouthed nodding my head and turn to the phone pressing the video call button when her hand landed on my chest just above my heart. The wind around me picked. Suddenly, all I felt was pain and the feeling of being electrocuted coursed through my body, making my body convulse. It felt like it was lasting forever when I saw everything turn black around me. ***
