Chapter 4 Amari So far it had been a great day. Stylan and I went to a diner not to far from the apartment for breakfast and it was great. They had french toast that was to die for. After that we walked the neighborhood a bit to ee what was what. We found a comic shop and a few small retailers and a drugstore for incidentals. Great. Before I knew it, It was time to head to this fencing lesson. “Are you nervous?” I asked Stylan. “No mommy. I’m going to be the greatest ever.” “ I love your confidence kiddo.” After a brief Subway ride, we were close to the destination. We walked past a few buildings and when I saw older kids coming out of one with gym bags, I figured we had found the right place. We went in and followed the signs to the second floor. Once we opened the door I was in shock. I’m not sure what I imagined but it wasn’t this. The space was huge and there were a lot of kids of all ages there. Some in these cute white outfits, some in sweats or yoga like pants. “Good afternoon! Is this Stylan?” A young woman appeared from nowhere. “Yes it is. I’m his mom, Amari.” She smiled. “I’m Cadence, the receptionist here.” She informed me while shaking my hand. “Let’s see.” She looked in the scheduler. “This is his first lesson with sabre. Great. I believe Donnie has him today. Have a seat here and he will be right with you. He’s finishing up with the tots.” Stylan and I sat down in chairs and waited. Eventually we saw a man walking towards us. He got down to Stylan’s height. “Hello sir. I’m Donnie. I’ll be your sabre instructor. What’s your name?” Stylan stood up. “I’m Stylan and this is my mom.” Donnie stood and hook my hand. “Hi mom.” I laughed. “Amari actually, but I answer to mom on occasion.” He smiled. “I understand. I answer to daddy on occasion.” How old is your little one? Or little ones. I inquired. “I don’t have any yet.” he said with a grin as he led Stylan away. Well alright then. I watched from my seat as Donnie walked Stylan through the basics. Stylan seemed to be picking it up quickly and looked positively thrilled. Before i knew it the 30 minutes was up. Donnie walked him over. "He did great fro a beginner with no fencing experience. It' almost like he was made for this." Stylan beamed at the praise. "Will he be back this week?' I mulled it over. "What is the recommended schedule for a beginner?" Donnie gave me a half smirk. For you or for him?" Is he ..flirting? No. He can't be. "For him of course." I mockingly roll my eyes. " I would recommend 1 or 2 group lessons a week and a personal lesson on the weekend for him. A personal lesson 3 times a week with me for you." He is relentless. "Ok. One group lesson a week and one private on Saturdays. Does that sound good?" He smiled very large and his blue eyes twinkled. "Great. and when will you be scheduling yourself in for a lesson?" I smiled sweetly. "I won't be." He leaned close enough so only I could hear him. "I'm only going to take no as an answer so long. I know what I want and I get what I want. You want me too. You just haven't realized how much yet." With that he walked away. How bold of him. Arrogant. Defiant. And judging by the moisture that all of a sudden appeared in my panities, he was also correct.
