Chapter 3 Amirah I woke up feeling a little discombobulated. It would take a bit of time to get used to my new surroundings. I yawned and stretched. Glancing at the clock it was only 0738. I had at least an hour before Stylan woke up. I grabbed my laptop and went to the hospital website. NYU. They had a lot of listings for nurses. I started to feel hopeful. I applied for several positions and before I knew it, Stylan was up. “I’m hungry mom.” “ Ok bud coming right up.” I did my morning routine and headed to the kitchen. I would definitely have to do a prime now order soonm, but we at least had eggs bacon and waffles.  Max gets points for supplying Stylan’s favorites. After breakfast we cleaned up and Stylan sat down to watch Disney. I started looking for the process to enroll him in school . It would start in a month or so. He also needed an activity. “Hey Stylan what sport do you want to play?” “Not football.”He yelled. “Ok how about swimming or archery?” “No.” “Rugby?” “NO!” “Baseball?” No. Boring.” “Fencing?” “What’s that one?” “Its the one with swords. You have seen it on the Olympics before.” “Oh I remember. That Homer guy used a saber but not a lightsaber. I want to do that.” I quickly googled Homer and Saber. Ah. Daryl Homer. Sabre silver. Black dude too. Awesome. I called the gym and set up a trial class for Stylan. With that done, I set to the next task of responding to emails. Much to my delight someone from NYU had reached out. I quickly responded and sent her my most current resume. After that I sat and made a Prime Now order so I could cook dinner later. I played around on google maps to get the lay of the land so to speak. We were pretty centrally located. There were plenty of restaurants and small shops around. The Subway wasn’t too far. A bus line was close. Who knew Max had such good taste. Who am I kidding, some realtor did this for him. Not bad. Things were looking up. Tomorrow would be Stylans first fencing lesson and maybe I could find a yoga studio. Plus I really want to go to the Nintendo store. It has to be amazing. Considering its the only one in the US, it better be amazing. I'm not sure what to expect but grand covers it. I went to bed feeling slightly excited and hopeful about life for the first time in a long time
