Chapter 1- Star of Information
The horrified screams of the young-looking lady filled the air, it was followed by the stench smell of blood and the muffled cries of a baby could be heard.
Emily poked her head through the small opening as she watched what was happening. She took out her camera and took a picture of the scene.
Her lips curved upwards her eyes dilated as she stared at the picture, she was about to place the camera into her bag when she accidentally knocked over an iron can by her side.
The loud noise rang through the quiet night.
'Oh no!' she mumbled as she got up and took to her heels.
She knew what would happen if she was caught but she also knew that she had to stay alive.
She hid in a small corner, covering every part of her body with the black cape she had which blended well with the dark surroundings.
Her heart pounded with each second as the sound of footsteps grew louder.
"It was a female, I can smell her rosy perfume" a man stated to Emily's hearing.
She rolled her eyes at his comments and wanted to correct him that her perfume was plain vanilla and not rose, but that would have been a deadly idea.
She wrapped her hands across her mouth and waited till they were gone.
She got out discreetly and rushed into the streets.

Emily yawned tiredly and lifted the cup of coffee by her side closer to her nose. She inhaled it and sighed.
"Nothing beats the smell of a warm morning coffee" Emily exclaimed and smiled.
"Really?" A man walked in with plates.
"Papa!" Emily got up and rushed to the man helping him with some of the plates.
"Papa, I've told you to allow these things be, I can help myself" She stated and dropped the plates on a side stool.
"What did you eat yesterday?" he asked abruptly and Emily kept quiet.
She did not prioritize food and once she started working on a news piece she could shut the world out.
"I wonder what I would do with you, child," Mr. Hayes rubbed his forehead, he could feel a small headache building up.
Emily smiled warmly at the average-height man and walked to him giving him a side hug.
"Thanks for all you do," She said, grateful for all he does.
Mr Hayes felt appreciated but when his eyes landed on the clock beside him, he gently pushed her away.
"Hurry up, you are needed at the office" He reminded while picking a piece of cookie and stuffing it into his mouth.
Emily giggled at her father's little gesture, she waved him as he left.
"Time to hurry up" She ate a bite of her cookie while packing up her work.

Sterling Empire
The door to the upper floor opened and shivers ran through everyone's spine as they stood up in acknowledging the president.
Alex walked through, not caring what was happening around him, he glanced at his watch and then continued.
He was almost at his office door when the elevator bell rang. He stopped and turned swiftly.
All eyes turned to the elevator to see who dared to come late.
"Who is she?" Alex turned to the man beside him.
"Miss Jane, ad department" he explained and Alex scoffed.
"Fire her" he ordered and opened the door to his office.
The PA nodded and carried out his orders.
Alex sighed tiredly and sat down, he opened his computer to check his emails.
His eyes ran through the screen of the computer sluggish but with focus.
"President, your parents are coming tomorrow!" the man from before rushed in panicking.
Alex who once had a scowl on his face now looked surprised.
"What?! How?!" He yelled and slammed his fist.
"They were supposed to come a week later but your cousin got them a flight one week earlier" He explained.
Alex stood up and rubbed his temples. He needed to cover his lie before they would get here.
"Tim, get me a wife!" he ordered.
Timothy stared at his boss and almost wanted to curse him but seeing how tense he looked he rushed out.
Alex strolled to the window, he shook his head while rubbing his neck.
He needed to get rings and plan a photo shoot to prove his fake marriage. He grabbed his car keys and strolled out of the house.

"Emily, you are late!" the tall-framed woman scolded as she leaned on the table.
Emily dropped her bag at her corner and bowed her head.
"The traffic was so hectic, I had to come here on foot,'' she explained, hoping to get some sympathy but the lady rolled her eyes.
"Your mother was the star of information but you?" she rubbed her head and stood straight.
At the mention of her mother, Emily bowed her head. She had always had to be compared to her mother, the greatest journalist of all time.
"Anyway, I need you to rewrite Roland's paper. It needs to be ready before 5 pm" She ordered.
Emily looked up at her with a clenched fist and a toothless smile, "Mrs Jameson, you promised to give me my own paper to work on today" she reminded me but the woman burst into laughter.
Emily looked around embarrassed but everyone had their heads buried in their work.
"When you finally become as good as your mother, I will finally have the confidence to allow you to write something for us. What do you think of us? Your starting point? Grow up girl" She spat on Emily's face and then pointed to the file on her table.
Emily's face turned red in embarrassment.
She sat down staring at the computer before her, she felt a small tingling in her eyes and her chest ached.
She looked up and saw a picture of a beautiful woman hanging there, below it was written Star of Information.
Was she ever going to meet up with her mother's legend?
Lost in thoughts, she felt a vibration on her table and jumped up startled. She calmed down and grabbed her phone.
Her eyes narrowed into a slit seeing the message written on her screen.
