Road Trip!

1083 Words
The next morning I woke up bright and early, packing my last minute things like my toothbrush and other toiletries ready to get on the road. Issac on the other hand was dragging his feet and in a horrible mood. "ISSAC ADAMS! You better pull it together so we can get on the road, you knew we were leaving at 10:00am, its not my fault you stayed up late!" I yelled from the living room. Issac stumbles out of his room with a hood over his head and sunglasses on his face, grunting. "Why can't I sleep one more hour, its not like we have to be there at a certain time" he whines. "NO! You promised you would be ready by 10:00am, it's 10:30am, now COME ON" I yelled a little louder than needed just to bug him. Issac has a tendency to run late if not motivated, luckily he was always motivated to dance. "FINE" in a growl was the only response I received as he pushed past me. "I'll drive first shift and you can sleep" I said as I walked to the drivers side. The trip out of the city was heavily congested and frustrating to navigate since I have rarely drove the 6 months of being in New York. Issac fell asleep before we even left the city. I do not understand how he can sleep with his head against the window like that. 2 hours later I heard my stomach growl loudly and it must have woke Issac up because I heard him laugh then ask if I wanted to stop and eat. "There's a Bob Evans a little ways up, does that sound okay?" Issac asks. "Yea whatever is fine as long as I get some food in my stomach" It didn't take long to get our food and because we were both starving we finished eating fairly quickly. We decided to have a drink at a nearby Pub before we handed back out on the road. "Hey Mels, we have been here about an hour, are you about ready to hit the road again?" "Sounds good, I'll meet you at the car I need to use the restroom right quick" I said. I watched Issac walk out as I finished the last swallow of my drink. Coming out of the bathroom and headed to the exit I walked past a group of leering men. One grabbed my ass as I walked past and out of reflex I turned around and punched him right in the nose. CRACK!! "s**t" I muttered under my breath. "YOU BROKE MY NOSE!" The man screams. Blood starts to flow from under his hands that he was holding over his newly dislocated nose. The other men stood there stunned, some looking at him and some at me. "GET HER!" He yells and I take off running out the door. Issac standing against the car in the parking lot sees me running out of the restaurant and immediately jumps in the car and we take off almost hitting a few cars as we sped away. "Oh Goddess! That just happened!" I said as Issac pulls back onto the highway. "And what is it exactly that happen?" He says eyeing me. .............. "He really picked the wrong person to grope!" Issac chuckled, I had to admit in hindsight it was a little funny. The guy managed to grab probably the only person in that restaurant that could kill him with one finger. "Mommaaa just killed a man put a gun against his head, pulled my trigger now he's dead. Mommaaaa, life had just begun but now I've gone and thrown it all away" We sung Rhapsody by Queen at the top of our lungs driving 80mph down the highway. Making great time after the 2 hour delay. Riding with Issac was fun and he was so easy to talk to. I know whoever his mate is out there is a lucky woman. "Do you think you'll find your mate when you get home?" I asked Issac, he told me before he hasn't been home but a few times since turning 18 and getting to find his mate. Those times he said he mainly spent with his family, not going out into the pack. "Honestly, I hope not yet. Its why I avoid pack gatherings when I do go home. I want to professionally dance a few more years before I become tied down" he said winking at me. I shook my head laughing, sounded like Issac, always the flirt. I was never the girl who dreamed of being swept off my feet by my mate either, my dreams were more about ballet and music. I was never against having a mate, but I'm not pining away for him either. Plus I have more good years in me before I retire to teaching or opening my own studio. "Do you hope to meet your mate, Mels? You've never mentioned it?" he asks glancing at eye me out of the corner of his eyes. "I'm not sure, I've always just focused on my career." I said shrugging "I don't think I could love a person as much as ballet though." "Never say never Mels, you could meet your mate tomorrow and never want to go back." I huffed at him, rolled my eyes and turned up the music. The rest of the long trip was spent joking, singing and snacking on junk food we got at truck stops. At about 4am we pulled up to the gates for the BlueMoon Pack territory. We were so exhausted we just wanted to get to my parents house and pass out. A young guard started to approach Issac's window and bent to look inside. I instantly recognized him as my cousin Elijah as soon as his face came into veiw. Elijahs mother and my father are siblings and he is 1 year younger than me so we were close growing up. "Hey Milly!!" Elijah all but yells "Hey guys its just Melody Bright" he yells to the other guards. I got out of the car embracing him tightly "Eli, I have missed you!" I pulled back to look at him, he has grown up so much since the last time I saw him, taller and gained a lot of muscle. "I have missed you too, we can catch up this weekend right?" he asked "Of course" I answered loudly, smiling widely. Oh how I have missed my family...
